Jeremy Pruitt Monday Press Conference Notes

Also, thanks Freak. You can tell that Pruitt is over doing these weekly PCs. He basically says the same thing every week. He gets asked the same questions each week. It's kind of like the reporters, coaches, and fans know where this team stands by now. Everyone knows the weaknesses and strengths, and there just isn't much left to discover.

Hell, I think it's carried over to this message board as well. Just the same 3-4 discussions every week. Hah
What is he supposed to do. The man calls like he sees it. If the Adams, Hyams, Ruckers of the world ask the same question over and over why give a different response .

Tell me about it. I streamed the game last Saturday, and I probably watched that stupid Trump/Blackburn commercial at least 20 times. Some commercial breaks it played 3 times in a row.

I'll be glad when this political BS is over with.
AND YOU Just Went Political. Hypocritical; IMO.

It's bewildering. Does something happen to any HS player who wanders in to the 865 area code and stays for more than 30 days? Even when we had all the NFL guys with Tiny etc, those guys would be standing around a ball carrier by 3s and 4s, while one guy makes a tackle on our rb or QB. It's been rinse and repeat for nearly a decade now.
I feel bad now for thinking how bad we were with the Sullins walk-ons. Crap, at least that group brought all they had. Not one OL group since.

THIS. I so hear you man!

I am a bit surprised no one asked him to speak to the comments in the Adams column related to Fulmer's alleged on-field practice presence.

Considering that Fulmer was on the OL in his playing days, and was known for having a big, bruising OL during his coaching days...I for one have no problem with him being on the practice field. No such thing as too many eyes.

Go Vols.

The Sullins walkons could teach most of our OL group a thing or two about bringing it, heart, mental toughness, following assignments, giving their ALL FOR TENNESSEE, etc...!!!!

Actually, Fulmer's lack of HAVING EVEN AVERAGE OL play his last few years is what got him fired. I am frustrated with myself for wanting a change at HC when Fulmer was fired ONLY BECAUSE UT HAS ONLY BEEN IN THE SEC EAST CONTENTION ONE OR TWO OF THE LAST 11 YEARS. However, Fulmer's last four teams had an OL that was the weakest link on the team. That lead to him being fired. How do you let your OL be the weakest link on the team when you are a former OL, former OL coach, former OC, and a HC with all that OL knowledge???

UT's RUSHING OFFENSE WAS 78th, 93rd, 71st, and 84th Fulmer's last four years. Some of it was recruiting, some of it was development. Either way, you can't let that happen to your team when you have all that experience as a player, knowledge of the position, and experience as a coach of an OL!!! Are you a fan that has only really been following UT for less than 10 years? If not, you have had a memory lapse. Please get your facts right!!!

PS. Kiffin's 2009 team with the walk on Sullins' twins starting on the OL that were around 260lbs finished 49th in rushing!!!

Yeah man. Sometimes, as a coach, you can show, explain, correct and enforce all day and it just doesn't sink in. Seems like our linemen are having to think about all they're learning while they're playing instead of having it committed to muscle memory.
If I ever had the opportunity I’d be very interested to hear what 19-20 year olds playing college ball have to say about why they think the coaching isn’t sinking in. Why is execution on the field so poor?

Fulmer’s last 4 years were what led to his firing.

Out of curiosity, how did they rank in the years from say 1994 - 2002? Those were the years where CPF seemed to be at his best.

No doubt he fell off as a HC after around 2001, but when he was at his best he was pretty tough to beat. Lives and breathes UT football. He’s earned the right to stand wherever he wants. When another coach brings us a Natty, we’ll revisit it.

My comment had nothing to do with Fulmer's earning the right to stand wherever he wants. Yes, he earned that right. It was still very bad to see a Hall of Fame coach let his expertise be the weakest link on his football team. That shouldn't have ever happened. I wish he didn't allow it to happen and would have won a few more SEC Championships and at least one more NC as well as just retired and became AD to hire Pruitt!!!
