Jeremy Lin

That's a bit misleading. He's made some terrific passes that weren't anticipated because they've not played with a good pg in so long. He been attributed some turnovers that were other player's fault imo.

That happens to every PG every day, though. The results thus far could be completely random, or they could be very representative of what to expect. The law of averages will balance it out, and we'll find out his production range.

Floyd Mayweather says New York Knicks' Jeremy Lin in spotlight for race, not play - ESPN New York

I've always hated Mayweather more than any other fighter and he continues to show me why. Dude makes racist jokes about Manny and now he has to comment on Lin getting recognition because he's Asian. It has nothing to do with playing at Harvard, going undrafted and being cut by the Rockets/Warriors. Also has nothing to do with winning games on what is probably a non-guaranteed contract while New York's two players making a combined 40 million a year are out and were losing when they were playing. Does being Asian play a role in it? Slightly at most. If being a great Asian basketball player was all he had going for him, I could understand Mayweather making the comment but that is the last thing people are looking at. They are looking at where he played basketball in college, how he was lucky to make the roster and how he's doing what Melo/Amare weren't doing with their massive contracts. And it's not like he's winning like Tebow won, he's actually putting up big numbers(including turnovers). Turnovers seem to be his only flaw but it's irrelevant since he is winning with the next best player being Tyson Chandler. That's impressive...

Can't wait until Mayweather puts on another boring fight where he runs away the whole time while winning each round with a few jabs. That way, he can go away... to prison. Good luck getting away with sticking out your hands pretending to fist bump and proceeding to sucker punch someone in the clink.

It is half true. Nobody would care if Lin weren't playing well (and Mayweather calls him a "good player"), but half the buzz is about the fact that he's the first Asian-American (and the first Asian to play guard). You've got Asian fans showing up on the road in DC with his name on their shirt for his second NBA start. It's obvious that the buzz is a lot about race.

The part that is stupid is that Mayweather says black players do this every day and don't get recognition. Nobody has ever done what Jeremy Lin is doing in terms of points and assists in first few career starts.

You're saying Asians are supporting him because he's Asian. What about all of the white people? I'm white and I'm more impressed by the fact he played basketball at Harvard, was cut by two teams and is winning on a team Melo/Amare couldn't win on. Why does a black person need to bring up a single Asian having success to support black people in basketball? Just about the whole league is black. The same reason he made racist comments about Manny is the same reason he has to be upset about one Asian getting recognition in a predominantly black sport. People slob over Kobe, Lebron, Carmelo, Howard, KG, Pierce etc. The second an Asian gets recognition, he has to comment on it. Why didn't he comment on Dirk? The guy is allowing his hatred for Manny to carry over into other sports. In reality, I think he's just racist when it comes to Asians.

"As soon as we come off vacation, we're going to cook that little yellow chump. We ain't worried about that. So they ain't gotta worry about me fighting the midget. Once I kick the midget ass, I don't want you all to jump on my d---. So you all better get on the bandwagon now. ... Once I stomp the midget, I'll make that mother f----- make me a sushi roll and cook me some rice."

Mayweather is a piece of crap.

White people like me who celebrate diversity? Yeah, one of the reasons why I'm interested in the buzz is his skin color. I celebrate the fact that he's a pioneer for his culture, and that he is bringing in a wider audience. Like it or not, a lot of it is about race.

I don't need to like or dislike because it never even factored into my opinion. Like it or not, other people don't believe what you believe. Maybe you're right and more people are a fanatic because he's Asian but honestly, tons of people could care less about race these days. Winning games matters and it's the same reason you praised Tebow in the past, is it not? Tebow is awful but he won games so you were on that train too. Why can't Lin actually put up big numbers without Melo/Amare and not have it be about race? Tebow wins and it's because he's winning. Lin wins and it's about race? That's a major cop out...

Is it racist if I say that Jeremy Lin has turned D'antoni's pick-n-roll offense into the pick-n-egg roll offense?

And yes, there are asians that are proud one of their race is doing well. There is nothing wrong with it. Yes, there are others rooting for him because we seldom see an Asian with this talent, and he is an underdog who ran into racism as he learned the game. There is nothing wrong with that either.
As a cracker, I enjoy seeing another cracker jump out of the gym, especially since it goes against stereotypes. There is nothing wrong with that either.

I grew up near a heavily Asian neighborhood, and a lot of my friends are from around there... I've got about 300 or so friends on fb that are Asian, and they've all been blowing up the news feed during Knicks games. I think it's awesome, and yes, it does have to do with the fact that he's Asian. Same deal as when David Lee was doing well, it's because he was an American white guy playing at a high level, which doesn't happen very often in the NBA.

Mayweather may be a PoS - but his comments hold some truth. I'm white and I love the hype - but I definitely think its as big a story as it is largely due to his race. Obviously - it's not only that... because he did come out of no where and have instant success... but let's be honest.. this stuff has happened before.. not quite to this same degree.. but a big difference is they weren't asian.

Hell - CJ Watson came out of no where and had a bunch of 30+ point games a few years ago.

Yeah... he was 2 turnovers away from a triple double...

I'm guessin' they will live with the t/o numbers as long as the ponts and assists keep coming. A number of those are quick or no look passes, like Pistol Pete used to do, that his team mates aren't anticipating. I think the t/o's will go down as they all sync better on the O.

Definitely possible.

Wasn't meaning to hate on him. That game winner was cold blooded. Kid is incredibly humble and plays hard.

The turnovers are out of control. Good thing the Raptors backcourt was even worse with 13 turnovers. He didn't have a good game yesterday, just an unbelievable last 2 minutes. The break even point for a ballhandler is 2:1 assist:turnover, and Lin is at 1.74:1. He's got a long way to go as a distributor, but dude is scoring pretty efficiently.

And honestly, in this run with Lin they've beat the Jazz, T-Wolves, Wizards, Lakers (horrible road team), and Raptors. Not exactly a difficult schedule. It keeps going, too. Kings and then Hornets are next. Not that I'm trying to downplay Lin's accomplishments, because I am a huge fan, just a lot of uncertainty about this new phenomenon.

Last night I became a believer in Lin.

I also wish Pacquiao would just knock Mayweather's knock teeth in.
