Sorry guys but I don’t see what some of you are seeing in Banks. He is bad in coverage. Struggles MIGHTILY with containing QBs. And gets bad penalties. Does he get a ton of tackles? Yes but he misses quite a bit as well.

Ask yourself this, what SEC team would Banks realistically start for right now? Maybe Vandy, Missouri and Vandy?

I think you're seriously missing some excellent plays on his part. I see an LB that's got sideline to sideline speed and moves well through all the traffic to get to the ball carrier.

He has made some really good plays no doubt. I just think overall he just isn’t that good.

Something needs to be said about the progression he has made being the heart of this defense. He finished the regular season with 108 tackles. The last person do that for Tennessee was Reeves-Maybin in 2015 with 105. Next year will be a huge year for him and his draft stock.

Banks progressed as the year went. He was an anchor on the defense, stayed healthy all year. Great guy to teach the new lbs coming in

Look at the bright side, after next yr you can find someone else to complain about not playing up to your standards.

His LB skills are improving and not quite there yet but he does have the intangibles, the dude gives 100% on every play. Much like Jennings did on offense in previous years. Good coaching can teach a lot but there are some things it can't teach, heart, will, and passion which is what I see Banks giving every snap.

Refresh my memory. Was it Banks who got kicked off the team for an incident with some cops? If so, he has come a long way both on and off the field.

Yes he did and Pruitt brought him back and gave him a second chance. He's made the most of it.

Yes and that is the one good thing Pruitt did during his time here. Pruitt gave Banks a plan to earn his way back onto the team and Banks took advantage.

The other good thing JP did was get us Hendon Hooker.

Any Tackles for a loss he has made are negated by 15 yard penalties

Overlooked is his coverage skills. He has come a long way.

I am not sure of his responsibilities in the defense this year, but we have the worst defense I have ever seen on QB keeper plays draw plays, and slants over the middle. Out zone defense in the middle is really bad and our DBs seem to be slow on man coverage. It will be interesting to see how we develop on defense in the Spring. Banks has improved a Ton since the beginning of the Eason and I believe he can become a great LB next year.

If we can pick up a couple of DB and safeties through the portal, we will win 10 games next year with Hooker and others coming back next year.

I was very down on him last year because he made a lot of bonehead plays, actually started out this season the same. But it seems someone on the defense staff had a come to Jesus moment with him and he has been lights out for most of the season. I was pleasantly surprised with his progression and he might have played himself into some NFL money.

The way he has progressed since the run-in with the law and his taking to coaching is great. He'll likely be a team leader much like Juann Jennings was....... highly vocal and hates to lose. He still needs to improve his coverage skills to be an NFL calibre LBer but he should progress that far if he stays on track.
