No bias. First time head coach winning championships. Check the stats as best you can. Many many fail in general ( having been given numerous head jobs ), let alone for the first time.

Everyone runs to win the prize, only a few get there. Like I said earlier, the percentages, the evidence, is on my side.

What side would that be. The evidence would be on your side for any coach in America you hire.Mark Richt is a 10 win a year coach but hasn't won a championship as A HC. Right now it's not about winning Championships we have to get to the place that we compete to even be in the conversation. I would take Pruitt's Assistant coach's body of work over a lot of guys who have been HC's but have had minimal success. And very few first year HC's had anything close to the resume and reputation Pruitt has. Jimbo's was very comparable and Dabo's and Smart's weren't too far off of what Pruitt's is. 1st year HC's like Frost, Norvell, Herman, Durkin, Helton,Brohm, Morehead, Odom, Mason and numerous others weren't even in the same area code as Pruitt's. Fans not even giving him a chance and just assuming failure is as dumb and ignorant as there could be.

I never said I wasn't giving him a chance. I'll give him the same chance that our previous coaches were given.

I'll even prove it by watching and going to the games and buying the merchandise, like I always have

Do you think cjp will win us an sec title in the next 5 years?

Yes, given his track record as a DC, and with the staff he is assembling, I believe he is as, or more, capable as any of the realistic coaching candidates that were up for the position.

I'd like to set up a volnation ban bet with you hahahaha. But a 5 year ban bet is kind of ridiculous.

That's fine. Coach shoop left Penn State to come here under Butch. It works both ways. I'm sure others have left positions to go elsewhere at same position only to be axed along with the coach.

That was more to get away from Franklin and the fat raise he got to do so. Not sure those are close to being comparable. Very few HC's have the reputation and respect from their peer's that Pruitt has. I'm still waiting for one of the negavols to show me legitimate cons and something in his background as a coach showing he will fail here. Or real reasons besides being a former bammer to pull for him to fail. If the biggest case against him is him being a Bammer or 1st time HC then we have the right man. There were legitimate reasons for us to possibly expect failure from Dooley and Butch. Dooley had 1 good year at LaTech and Butch had been a mid major lifer who road the coattails of Brian Kelly. And had never been at a high stress football school or had never recruited the different level type of players he would have to recruit to TN. Pruitt is a SEC guy and understands the pressure to win and the type of recruits and support staff needed to be successful in this league. Damn Butch still never figured that out in 5 years.

Yeah, let's just not get behind our coach. He's only just been hired. Take that cold bucket of water and dump it over your head

I wasn't necessarily saying you thought that way just numerous on here that have made it clear they are hoping for and expecting failure. Would love to see those same ones and how much they change their tune if Pruitt was to win the East or get us to the playoffs. Just speaking hypocritically and would be very anxious to see how they eat their crow if that happened. Or would they still hope he fails because of the Ala connection.

All those for, Bama, Learning on the Job Pruitt, beware. You are not welcome here, lol. I kid, I know he is a Bama fan, but I believe him when he says his name is on the program and that he is all in here at UT. Anyway, don't be surprised at the comments you see, and don't be mad because we disagree with your rosey outlook on the new coach. Let's get this cold bucket of water prepared to be poured on all you sunshine CJP pumpers out there ( and there seems to be a ton of you ).

CJP will not be here at UT 4 years from now. The most likely thing that will happen, the losses will mount, and he gone. My psychic powers suggest that in year 3 the name "CJBP" will be how CJP is labeled.

If by small chance, the inexperienced, CJP wins here at UT, there is a good chance he will leave for Bama.

I hope for the best, but I can not neglect my rational ( and psychic :) ) powers, and join up with you pumpers. Rationally think about this hire. After you meditate on it, weigh out the evidence for and against him here at UT, and if you will be an honest judge, I think you will see that this most likely will not end well. Once again, most likely, his inexperience will cost him. Too many mistakes, too many errors in teaching all 3 phases of the game, will cost him. The more experienced coaches will leave him scratching his head and swimming in a pool of despair.

Will he be leaving for Bama to become the DC again? Saban could got 0-11 for a couple of years and won't be out a bama, if youre suggesting that he will be the HC at Bama in a couple of years I need to know who your dealer is and get a couple of orders in before Christmas.

Which realistic candidate for HC do you believe was more capable of winning the SEC at UT?

Depends on the money. I don't know how much UT/boosters were willing to spend. That's kind of hard to answer.

Off the top of my head, leach has won everywhere and now he's doing it in the PAC. Les Miles has won a ton. I wanted Mullen. I think if Mullen had been their number 1 from the beginning, and brought plenty of money to prove it, we would have Dan Mullen. Proven winner at state. Hes done a phenomenal job. Now, cjp gets to face that man every year at FL. I am also personally big on hiring NFL guys. Sounds crazy maybe, but why not go hard ( with money ) after Matt petricia def coordinator for years under belichick? Bill is the best to ever do it, why not hire one of his coordinators. I'd even look at Josh McDaniels their offensive coordinator. When you start looking NFL, there are lots of candidates if they will take it. The recruiting is a turn off, I get that. But the chance to be a head man and plenty of money might lure them

I just don't understand why anyone would be negative about Coach Pruitt especially after the staff he is putting together. Coach Pruitt is a WINNER.....something most fans have forgotten about and new fans have never experienced. Winners win regardless of place or situation.

I think borovol calls it bargain shopping for coaches. I guess as far as bargain shopping goes, we got a good candidate.

I'm of the opinion that we have got to quit bargain shopping for head coaches. Get a proven winner, and most likely, you are gonna have to pay that man!

We bargain shopped for Dooley. We bargain shopped for Jones. We bargain shopped for Pruitt. Geez, if you are gonna bargain shop, why not at some point in time, give Tennessee blood a chance??? We are giving coaches a chance to match wits with the best in the sec, and to learn on the job, give Tennessee blood a chance in this bargain shopping barrage.

If 8.2 million for Gundy is bargain shopping......

Mike Leach has never won a conference title, in his entire head coaching career. Given his seeming lack of interest in having a successful defense, why would he automatically find conference-winning success if he were at UT?

Les Miles is a decent coach, who only managed to win the SEC twice in 10 years, last winning it in 2011, and hasn't had any serious P5 job offers since LSU fired him. Why would he suddenly find success at UT?

Mullen maybe, but I question whether or not he was every a serious candidate for the position.

Very possibly. The only team not beatable in the east next year is Georgia realistically.

I honestly wouldn't even say that. GA has 22 Seniors with 16 of them being on the 2 deep plus whatever JR's declare or transfer out like Eason is expected to do. They become very beatable next season. And that is a lot of offensive, defensive and special teams production they are losing. That's a quarter of the scholarship players they have. Basically losing an equivalent of a full signing class.
