Watching a rerun today on YouTube which is an old Jefferson Pilot game. At the time, I never did like it when we played on JP but, it sure seems to have some nostalgia now!

If memory serves me correctly, seems the JP game always ran over the 2:30 CBS game.

“Welcome to Starkville, Mississippi, for this 11am kickoff between the visiting Vanderbilt Commodores and the hometown Mississippi State Bulldogs. I’m Dave and with me in the booth as always is Dave, and who could forget about our sideline reporter Dave?”

It's one of those things that at the time I made fun of the game but now I look back fondly. Same with JP basketball games. I always wished they did college baseball games too because back then seeing a televised college baseball game before the CWS was like seeing Bigfoot.

I remember it would be like Kentucky vs. Florida and Kentucky would get up 3-0 with 12:00 left in the first quarter and Dave Neal would be like "WE GOT AN UPSET BREWING IN GAINESVILLE!"

Ah yes, the days when offensive linemen weighed 250 pounds.

That was the beginning of the TV expansion. Before that there was 1 college game a week, occasionally a night game addition.

Some of the greatest SEC games in history were not televised. You’d watch the Dickey, Battle or Majors Show religiously. We’d also watch the ABC review show with Bill Fleming covering 5 or 6 game highlights on Sunday morning. People today have no clue.

Especially if UK was playing in that time slot. They ran out of bounds on every play which stopped the clock until the next play back then.
