Jeff Lebby to interview for OC

I think getting the right guy is more important than to make a rush hire. I just have to believe in the process because no matter how I feel they will still do what they decide.

Lebby is the QB coach at UCF. I'm sorry, but you don't come to Tennessee to learn to be an OC on the job. We can do so much better. I'd rather wait and take an NFL OC.
Haven’t you been paying attention lately? That’s exactly how it works here now. It shouldn’t be, but it is... also they could hire a blind monkey to be our new OC and I guarantee you that their would instantly be 100 mother ****ing morons here defending the hire and blasting anyone who doesn’t like the hire as “ not knowing football.”

I haven’t heard my category yet. I’m going to accept that Pruitt’s going to hire someone he’s comfortable with...fully aware what’s at stake. Afterwards I’ll judge the product with no preconceptions...positive or negative. Accepting mediocrity...conceding reality will happen with or without my signature? Whatevs. Won’t be excited if it’s not Briles or Kitchens. Won’t be scouting bridges for anyone. It’s football.

We aren’t willing to spend the money. I can guarantee you a lot of coaches would have became interested at 7 million per year. Our name doesn’t sell itself anymore, many of our fans and AD pretend it does.
Already paying buyouts...you're talking about fiscal suicide. Who is worth 7 million a year? There's no guarantee that that person would be successful....

People were beating down the door...

What do you think the problem is? it has to be a control issue. We are not firing them when warranted. We just gave a fecal brick layer five years to not produce and then paid him handsomely not to coach. In fact the best job in college football is being a recently fired coach at the University of Tennessee. Lottery money reigns.

Ten years of failed coaching searches should have taught us by now that we probably can't do much better.

Is this sarcasm? Because if not...

No sarcasm. Will we meet or exceed 7-5 next year ? I doubt it but I don’t think we should lower the standard. With our resources and fan base, 8-4 to 9-3 should be the minimum expectation for this program.

I believe without reservation that Pruitt CAN lead (and coach) this team at a championship level.

I have no idea if the search is going well or poorly or if it is all but wrapped up and waiting under the tree.

Could someone or a group of people be sabotaging the program? Sure. Is that really happening? aaahhh... maybe... in subtle degrees.... but not overtly... and then maybe not at all.

Knoxville is a special town. It’s like a mythical creature. She can woo you and lift you up, and even defend you against enemies, but she needs those enemies to feel validated in defending some ever-morphing ideal. If she ever turns on you, you probably won’t escape her bite.

In my day, the UT athletic Dept. was a microcosm of the town. TFWIW

When it’s sweet, you fall in love with Rocky Top. If it sours, you find yourself being shoved off the Rocky Top Cliff.

Given what we have went through in the past decade plus, it would be modus operandi for those who shouldnt be involved in an OC search are meddling. Its the TN way.

The “Tennessee Way” is crippling this program and taking it’s fans down with it.

LOL! Sure they don’t. You can’t be serious. Poll it, I bet more than 95% of the people on this board have never heard of him. What do you do, study other teams and their position coaches?
Yes...part of my job. Sorry I meant among coaches, @AD's and the people making these hires. Not the casual fan. did not mean to come off that way. He has been successful and tied to Art for a while. He is known in the business and respected...the Baylor epidsode will always stick. I would rather see a good running back coach hired and run the offense through him. Weinke would move to QB coach.

Leach wanted the Job. Fat Phill took over and could have hired him, but nope. Phill is the problem.

Mike Leach would not have lost to the likes of Vanderbilt I assure you that. If anything, he does more with less, which is exactly what this program needs.

No worries. I’m just trying to say for once I wish UT would hire a guy that is a home run, big time hire
