They just reported on the Sports Animal that Jeff Francis has resigned as sideline reporter for the Vol Network in order to spend more time with his family (his oldest son is a freshman QB this year, couldn't tell if they said at West or Webb).

Mike Stowell will replace Francis on the sidelines.

My dad was a friend of his when they were in college. He was a nice guy when I met him. Anyone know anything on Stowell?

That's interesting. Did it say how long Francis has been with the Vol Network?

A sideline reporter has that much going on that he can't spend time with his family? Weird!

now if they could just get rid of kesling. nothing against the guy, but watching paint dry sounds like a better option rathar than listening to him.

Stowell will be a good addition on the sidelines, but still, I'd rather have a quarterback giving analysis than an offensive lineman.

Stowell is a nice guy. He will be your typical "homer" non-controversal side line reporter. Wish they could have gotten Tim Irwin, who would have called a spade a spade.

"Back to you Bob".

i thought Francis would have been a good replacement for Kesling. As a former UT QB he understand what UT was trying to do better then most.

I read on a high school football board that his son was recently kicked off the West High football team for violation of team rules. Is this a coincidence or something more telling?

I agree....Who the hell's decision was it to put Bob on the air? His calls are not only boring but totally undescriptive of the action. Every play sounds the same and he kills you with cliches......Mike Keith would have been a better move to say the least.

Umm, well, OK...

Francis was not bad. Good luck to him.

As for the Kesling crap...yes, he sucks, but, just like Fulmer, he's safe.

Actually, he's much safer than Fulmer. Blob is not going anywhere.

To bad they couldn't get Sterling Henton to take his place

No, no, no...

you must not have heard "STERL THE PEARL" on the old Sports Page Live Show on 1040-AM here in town.

He makes that insane PA Announcer from the Detroit Pistons sound like Ben Stein. "Buehler?...Buehler?"

I love Sterl, he is a pretty funny guy and his radio shows were great in college. He had some pretty good block parties as well. God bless him. And yes, I heard him on the sports page.
