Jeff Brohm a serious candidate

6-6 is his first year coaching a team who won 9 games in 4 years. After going 8-4, 8-5, 12-2, and 11-3 at WKU. I don't disagree he'd be a gamble but it seems he's been able to improve programs he's coached.

But even if Currie went after Brohm, doesn't he have something like a $12M buyout due to being in year 1 of his contract? His salary would likely be on the cheaper side, but that buyout would sting pretty badly for a gamble.

People are using this talking point like it's a major accomplishment. It's not. They won 6 or 7 games in 2011/2012. It's not likely Purdue has been completely irrelevant the last decade - they've just had a string of bad coaches. Brohm has upside for Purdue, but not enough upside that we should buy him out and take that gamble. Even with his bro on board, it's not an attractive hire.

Also people, please dont talk about this man's "NFL experience" as if that's an appropriate measuring tool when discussing head coaching candidates. It's not. He was a career clip board holder, never once made a meaningful impact on a NFL team.

Is this true?? If Currie agrees to this, there should be mattresses ablaze and pitchforks at the gate.

2011? That's 6 years ago! Completely different team

Given what he had to work with this year, he's done a tremendous job.

And it only serves to validate that work he did at WKU

But if he doesn't offer - folks will also burn mattresses.

There are valid reasons why some of these coaches are not good fits for UT.

Confirmed?

Jeff Brohm, Purdue: $5.9 million today. It rachets down to $4.9 million on Dec. 6 and $4.75 million on Jan. 1. (Purdue classified the $900,000 buyout it paid to Western Kentucky as a loan, and the school forgives $150,000 of that original amount every Dec. 31.)

He took over Bobby Petrino's team....

By the way if we are comparing mid major offenses, pretty sure Kiffin's FAU squad puts Brohm's Petrino built offense to shame.
His last year at WKU he was ranked #1Pts offense and avg 523 ypg.. If you call that vanilla then ok

Tee before him all day every day.

Absolutely not. Brohm has a way better resume and coaching tree. If Tee wasn't a VFL Vol fans would have a $hit fit with someone with his resume even being considered. Look past the orange tint, he is not ready.

i could have sworn i heard on wnml today that brohm already told us "thanks but no thanks" when we reached out to see if he was interested?

Keep reading posters reading that they read that somewhere. :loco:

Source is hammer and rails... if this is true, this is truly a crap show of epic proportions. I am a fan of Tennessee as well, and I hate to see it get like this.

My only concern with Brohm is who his DC would be.

Gonna be Butch 2.0 in terms of staff. If Brohm comes, his entire staff will come with and they will all get pay raises.

If I hear Brohm say "Best Staff in America" in his introductory presser, I am going to puke.
