Jeff Brohm a serious candidate

What happens when Tee fails after his 2nd year? If it comes to that, are you content to let this program collapse for another 3 years because we can't fire our golden boy?

You are comparing a proven HC at a very challenging school to a first time OC at an elite school with everything going for it.

Tee is a disaster waiting to happen.
I think Tee may be a future HC but like you not now..I'm sure he is learning but don't think he is ready to take on an SEC team at this point! But just my opinion..

i could have sworn i heard on wnml today that brohm already told us "thanks but no thanks" when we reached out to see if he was interested?

Lol, whatever dude. Common sense would tell you bringing in a guy that was going to be Georgia Southern's coach isn't a good idea at all.

And doing it with a popular ex player makes even less sense because the chance of tarnishing himself is extremely high. If we hate Brohm, who gives a crap, he has no connection here. If we hate Tee, then that's a terrible situation.

Bringing in a guy whos 6-6 at Purdue isnt much better

None of these guys are good ideas. Might as well take our chances now. Tee’s unproven, but there are enough examples that it’s a gamble that could pay off.

What if Tee turns out great? It’s time for Tennessee to grow a set of balls. If they refuse to hire Kiffin, then go get Tee. They want to be here and with Tee, it’s 50/50. UGA is willing to take a gamble on an alumni. It’s time for Tennessee to do it.

6-6 is his first year coaching a team who won 9 games in 4 years. After going 8-4, 8-5, 12-2, and 11-3 at WKU. I don't disagree he'd be a gamble but it seems he's been able to improve programs he's coached.

But even if Currie went after Brohm, doesn't he have something like a $12M buyout due to being in year 1 of his contract? His salary would likely be on the cheaper side, but that buyout would sting pretty badly for a gamble.

I've liked Brohm from the get go. I posted here when Purdue hired him that he was up and coming and he didn't disappoint in his first year at Purdue. He would be a good get, but considering we couldn't lure Gundy w $7m (obv not offering him that kind of dough), I wonder if we could lure the first year coach. His stock will only continue to go up

Agreed.
I would have taken Brohm before Schiano happened.
In a normal world, Brohm would be eager for an opportunity like ours. In reality, I doubt we can get him.

I'd try to hire Petrino before I would Brohm. Why hire the apprentice when the teacher could be had?

Because the apprentice is younger and with no baggage?

Younger isn't always good thing in this business. Petrino's baggage is extremely minor compared to who they just tried to hire.

I'd take a guy who won on his own over another coattail guy like Brohm. Brohm may be good, but you just don't know because he's followed Petrino until this season.

Plus it would take a significant investment to hire Brohm. There are coaches out there that are equal to him that are cheaper in case we're back here again in 4 years.

Brohm’s from my high school’s rival, so there is some local bias, but I think Brohm is on his way to excellence.

NetJets Aviation 549

This was a flight from Knoxville, Tennessee to West Lafayette yesterday morning. It arrived just before 11:00, which is when the height of the Greg Schiano fracas was blowing up. It left about an hour later and went to Henderson, Kentucky just south of Evansville about an hour later before continuing on to Miami.

N44081

This flight left Louisville yesterday just after 3pm and landed at around 4:30. It stayed for about an hour and a half and flew back to Louisville around 6:15pm. But Louisville isn’t open? WE MAY BE WRONG! Bobby Petrino has long been connected to Tennessee rumors, his buyout is now lower since Louisville fired its AD. This also happened as everything was falling apart in Knoxville, so Louisville is playing 13 dimension chess.

Petrino's baggage is exactly why you can't hire him because of who they just tried to hire.

You really should notate these are not your thoughts because you don't want anyone to think you came up with something so inane and stupid.

Brohm was on the low end of what I thought was acceptable when we started this search. He's now the last possibility that seems realistic from my original list. Would love to have seen him with another couple of impressive years at Purdue, but we don't have that luxury anymore. He's not a sure thing by any means, but there aren't any left out there (I don't consider Kiffin realistic because of the people making the hire).

i would still call kiffin first. I know he screwed us over and i hated him, but i think he wants to come back and make up for it. Plus at this point i think he is the only one left that would have us winning again soon. He also has the personality to succeed here and i think recruits would love him.

Lets take the risk on a coach the Purdue coach over one of our own! Stuff like this is why we're in this situation.

Brohm has head coaching experience Tee has none, steel has some and it sucks so what choice do we have? Face it right now we are not in any position to get proven head coach the best we can hope for is that a tier 2 type guy turns out to be a home run.

Why do we drool over a man that was 6-6 at mighty Purdue........

Once again, F*** the Haslams

Presumably both because of how difficult it is to get Purdue even to 6-6 along with how he did at Western Kentucky before that (12 and 11 win seasons at a program where the best it had ever seen was one 8-win season in 7 years, which he also was also able to match in his first year there).

The same logic that let the fan base get behind Dooley and Butch.

You can say that about literally anybody. It's a meaningless addition to the discussion.

It's meaningless, but its true. A HC is a CEO...he has to have great managers under him and great employees. I think Tee can get good coaches here as well as recruit good players for what he wants to do.
