Word is Manning vetoed Tee Martin, and there are some valid points to make. Tee is a 2nd year OC. HC is a big step up with a lot more to deal with. Tee is a legend at UT, and I would hate to see him come to Knoxville before he's ready and fail. I do think he would be an awesome recruiter and it could work or he could be awesome as Kiffin's OC, but this is political now. Haslam is fighting for dominance of the program. Nothing else matters. This is the real source of the problem

Someone made a good point a different thread about the whole Peyton blocking Tee thing.

Can you imagine the ego hit Peyton would take if Tee comes in and say in 3 or 4 years leads UT to a National Title?

So Peyton's replacement would've done twice what Peyton couldn't do once and that was bring this program a national title.

I really believe his ego couldn't handle it.

there may be something to it but I don't think it's like realistic. we just want to beat florida, vandy and be in the mix to win the east

I highly doubt any of them rejected a HC offer from Tennessee, much less all 3.

Even as toxic as TN appears right now, this a huge step up from their current jobs and who knows whether they'll ever get another job opportunity like this.

:good!: Total 100% USDA BS report...

I still don't understand why you guys don't at least interview him though. Well actually I do understand. It is because your admin is operating off a list of coaches and is just going down it from the top offering the job to each one in succession. It is a stupid approach or as my father would say "This is no way to run a railroad."

Leonard Little now. If AD, Pres, and Chancellor are not all on same page, then the hire can't be made.

Should at least give Tee a courtesy call. Disrespectful to Tee.

What do people not understand about Tee Martin as coach. We could literally have a blank check for him to build a staff. If he landed Steele as DC and went out and got a stud OC/QB coach, that would be ideal. If he built an A+ staff, he’d be fine. No reason to think he’s an incompetent coach.

Half the people on this board think the only reason Fulmer is a Hall of Famer is because of his staff.

Tee was offered a job once and declined it. Maybe that's why. Regardless not many of us want him as HC

Swain Event -

****CALLING ALL FORMER #TENNESSEE ATHLETES ***

Power is in us coming together.

CALL INTO THE SHOW is from 7-10 am et. 8653377615. Call in and you’ll moved straight to front. This is our program! Share with all VFLs. #Vols

So long as we don't hear Haynesworth or Ainge, I think that would be interesting. All we'll hear from Haynesworth is that UT won't hire Tee because of the color of his skin (not because he's not qualified). Ainge will do nothing more than say "dont hare Kiffen!!! he stinks!" or some childish crap like that. Did anyone see the man's texts that he posted to Twitter? Talk about a need for attention.

Nobody said Tee was their first choice. A WHOLE LOT of people, a large majority of Vol fans, would happily take him as head coach and support him as head coach. Especially over mini-Butch Doeren.

Strike three. Haynesworth would happily take Kiffin.
