Jaylen Wright gave exceptional effort on that last run

He knew he was in for a TD.

The ref who signaled the play was dead AFTER the ball crossed the goal line should be held accountable for taking away a great play from this young man.

When he got the ball I thought he was going to do the ole jump over the line like Tennessee did in the Fulmer days.I think it would have ended better.

he was hit immediately as he got the handoff and shook off that tackle. He then "scored" over 2 more Purdue defenders. Put 5-10 lbs of muscle on this guy and he will be a load.
He never quit! Should have been rewarded for his exceptional effort!!

Would love to have seen Jeremy Banks lined up in the wildcat last night for that run. He has the size and aggression to bull his way in on those short yardage plays. I understand the potential risk at losing your best LB on a gimmick play, but it’s OT in the last game of the season. That’s when you throw everything you have at the other team and leave nothing in the tank. Play to win.

Has anyone seen any games where CJH has used the wildcat? With his up-tempo pace I can’t imagine that he’s used it, but that might be something for him to consider until we get a Derrick Henry sized RB.

That is what I’m hanging my hat on when it comes to that last play. Still a little disheartened about last night and the outcome. I can’t believe that play was taken away from us to completely change the outcome of the game! However, if that’s how we go out with a freshman running back fighting like that on the goal line AND making it happen so be it. I’ll take that heart every day!

We do have to get better in short yardage. We do need a bigger back to go with the group. I do feel good about Williams. But we need to practice more behind center on short yardage plays. Not a fan of shotgun formation on goal line plays or short yardage plays. We have to play more physical in them situations. The bama’s and Georgia’s have power running games to go with there passing attack. We have to develop that as well. GBO!P.S No doubt Wright scored no matter what the nut job in stripes said. Go Vols!
