I don't remember this guy and about 100 others, but I would say this is an example of why you should never sink big money in guys coming out of high school. You pay them, feed them, train them to where they might contribute, then bam, they're gone somewhere else for more money.

Take a page from the Ole Miss, Miami, and Indiana playbook and put your money in the portal. Look what it's done for them. Again, I doubt they sunk a bunch of money in this particular guy, but the concept is still there.

Nico should be a cautionary tale for this.

Had a bad injury his senior year, and he’s still trying to get up to speed. Another bad evaluation
He was a 4 star, so apparently everybody had a bad evaluation, On3 has him listed as $124,000 NIL valuation. Pretty good money for riding the pine as a Freshman, Just a few more zeros then I made as a Freshman in 1978/79.

Just thinking aloud here, but I wonder if in this day and age, we should just not take projects/rehab kids any more like this. In an era where every roster can turn over in a week, it just seems like a lot of risk with little reward. Would rather have spent that money on a one or two year rental.

I think this will gradually become the way of things for most P4 programs.

Kids that get hurt their senior year of HS will have to cut their teeth at the G5 level more often and then will transfer up once they prove themselves again.
