Jay Graham Out at Bama Already

You don’t “quit” this job when you worked for Pruitt for years. I think he’s either in trouble or was encouraged by Saban to take a hike. I would have felt sorry for him if he didn’t take a swipe at us after he left.
This. He was talking smack about us like 2 weeks ago. Screw him, he's dead to me.

Don’t feel sorry for him. It was bad enough he took that job, but whenever he tried to troll Tennessee I was done with. I don’t care how hard up for money I was, you couldn’t pay me enough to work for Alabama, Florida or Georgia. I just threw up a little in my mouth just thinking about it. Any other school I’m good with, just not those 3.

I dont know what Jay's family situation is but If you had young kids looking to you to provide for them you would...and you'd do it wearing a dress (provided there were no other options).

Not going to speculate here. Jay was a great player for us and thought we was a decent coach. I don't like that he went to Bama, but hate to see things like this for anyone. The assistants aren't paid anywhere near what the HCs are paid. If he stayed and was let go, at least he would have had an extra years pay versus now where he is walking away from actual money. The good part is he won't be recruiting against us now.

True but since we're talking about a hypothetical situation anyway, I was just using it to make a point. I also said "provided there were no other options."
As a hypothetical I agree, but I'm pretty sure this situation doesn't match that model. That said we don't mind at least one guy who made the move in the opposite direction, with Cutcliffe never going back to Alabama after coming to coach at Tennessee.

Well Austin Price said he quit and that Saban tried to get him to stay. I'm not exactly sure what it means. If that's true, then it would seem it has nothing to do with his time here, but who knows.
I'm just curious if this doesn't have anything to do with the investigation into Rush Propst n that Valdosta Ga football program.. seems like something "under the radar" is going on....

Austin Price is about as clueless as they come for a staff member. It's amazing he gets paid to do that
Yeah I don’t buy at all that Graham quit. The most plausible explanation is that he lied to Saban in the job interview about his involvement in the Pruitt violations and Saban fired him for cause because of that.

As far as I’m concerned, this is what you get when you talk crap about your alma mater previous employer. Someone gets caught up in the recruiting violation stuff, it may as well be the guy that took an unnecessary swipe at us on his way out. Glad he and cornbread are gone.

Why do we care about former players so much? Coaching is a business and I doubt there are very few coaches that are loyal to their alma mater. A few maybe but most are looking to further their career wherever that may be.
Yeah the fans romanticize this thing called collegiate sports and think these guys are here because they love their university. Sure some do BUT most approach it as a business. Pure and simple. And allegiance to that university is limited to what you can do for them whether it’s playing or coaching. Naiveness can be bliss. I sure miss it!

I’m always confused by comments like this. AP is basically the only local reporter that has any connections, outside of maybe Trey. We obviously don’t know the truth here yet, but AP and Jay are tight. So if AP is saying Jay quit, then I either believe AP or I believe that Jay is lying to AP.

I bet if any of those schools offered you the type $$ they offered Jay, you'd fake it till you make it. I love the Vols...but mama didn't raise no fool.
