Jay Bilas: Fire Pearl

Actually, if you ponder Bilas' comments and realize his position, he is an elite establishment supporter, alum, and a lawyer....Bilas is ALWAYS going to support the regal society of college basketball and the 'AA. Bilas' cleary states his position in the Slive v. 'AA comment.

A large part of the reason this gets sooo much attention is that BP made Tennessee Basketball relevant again!!! When all is said and done, it will be a dog and pony show....I don't believe for a second that the 'AA will suspend BP for a year, he's worth too much money! They're all milking it for every cent it's worth!

Go Vols!!!

Everyone remember this is a $$$$ game and the 'AA prides itself on making convenient yet baffling "rulings" like Newton's. Watch them drag all this out until the tournement for maximum exposure, then make a similar Newton-like slap on the wrist decision.

Not the same situation.

First of all, Bilas is a self-righteous tool whose opinion is purely rectal. Secondly, if Bruce is fired as a result of this, this Vol fan will NEVER support UT basketball. Since so many are giving their considered opinions on this subject, here's mine. GBO

That's just dumb. I'm a big Pearl fan, but no coach is greater than the program.

The point is the 'AA is notorious for making inexplicable rulings that "everyone" thinks should go one way "by the book" only do NOTHING.

KEEP BRUCE PEARL!

The 'AA is a sorry group, but comparing the two is ridiculous.

Once again, it's not a comparison of the specific situations. Instead, it is "such as" or "for example"...comprende'?

As for Newton...his comments at the Heistman were priceless..."parents do a lot behind the scenes" :pimp_2:

The AA will have to make an example on Bruce's case in that there will be repercussions for lying to your governing body.

Hey everyone! New member here. I have been reading a lot of the postings. I would say that this thing with pearl can go either way. Maybe the NCAA will think that the school and SEC have done enough. Considering that this is our first offense of this kind. Or they may bring the hammer down on Pearl and the program. I agree with what has been done so far because the punishments have been limited to Pearl and the coaching staff, not the players. I think that is the biggest thing. I don't believe that any further punishments should stay the same way. I have been a fan of Tenn. for a really long time and the last 6 years has been the most exciting for a really long time. The only thing I can compare Pearl's situation to is Indiana's coach. When he lied to the NCAA he was fired but he was a repeat offender. All I can say is we need to make TBA the loudest place in the world tonight to show our support for the team.

Most definately! I live in the state that borders Tenn. to the north. I don't want to disgrace this forum by writing the name. I have been in TBA before for a game and couldn't talk to my wife sitting next to me. I know we can do better fans!
