Well that’s the story we’ve been told for weeks so why not play?

Hell why not send everyone to school, work, and the bar too.

Many people form there own opinions and don’t live by the fear like you seem to.

I don’t live in fear. I exercise caution and keep my fellow citizens in mind with actions and behaviors that are reasonable and consistent with the science and reality on the ground.

Have you done the science or are you following whatever they dream up and tell you?

Your use of caution is in fact useless. It won’t save you or anyone else unless you walk around in a full bio suit.

I just buried my grandfather on Saturday. He was the fifth resident in his facility to die from Covid in the past 20 days. The sixth died yesterday. Six deaths because one young and otherwise healthy staff member brought it with her without even realizing she was sick. The facility has been on lockdown since mid-March and it still got in.

But you're fine, so no one else should be concerned.

Isn't it just a little suspicious that the virus "Somehow" finds it's way into nursing homes. After what happened in NY; with Cuomo forcing them to admit Positive Tested People ; you would think that couldn't be repeated. Somebody dropped the ball; and not Just the Staff member. NO TESTING? I smell Lawsuits---but that won't bring anybody back. I'd be mad as hell if it were my relative. Everything about this "pandemic" Stinks.

Guess I’m a terrible person as I’ve gotten older because I feel differently about a 85 year old passing vs a 25 year old. One is a reflection on a good life and the other a tragedy of passing before their life was lived out. Flame away I guess.

I really don't think you want to get into debating the value of one life versus another.

The staff were being regularly tested. As soon as she popped her first positive test she was removed from the schedule and required to self-isolate. It was already too late.

Sometimes the real answer is much simpler than the conspiracy theory would have you believe.

A pandemic is not the time to form "opinions", it is a time to learn the facts and act responsibly.

Well said. Yesterday, one of my employees developed symptoms and tested positive - which means she was likely already contagious when several of us worked together at an event this weekend. We all had on masks, but we still have exposure risk.

Now, I'm sleeping in a separate room from my husband for two weeks, my other team members are choosing to isolate from older parents, etc. The ripple effects touch lots of lives - not just my one employee who is at home short of breath, feverish, achy, etc.

I hope you and the rest of your team stay healthy.

Suspicious? No, staff members bring it in. My friend works at a nursing home that is dealing with an outbreak. They have staff members that also work in hospitals because the nursing home can’t pay a full time salary for certain staff members when they are only temporarily needed.

As an example, a stroke victim needs help learning how to talk again. That is a very specific skill set. Nursing homes will hire a speech pathologist to do therapy with this patient. That therapy is only an hour or two per day and normally not held every day. That nursing home can’t afford to pay that speech pathologist’s entire weekly salary for at most 10 hours of work. That means the speech pathologist will work at other nursing homes, and hospitals.

One thing that is tiresome is hearing people say "well ____ died of it, but he/she was old"

Well, old or not they were alive before they had it. Some people act like if you're over 65 you're expendable. Just because someone is "elderly" doesn't mean they can't be robbed of another 5-15 more years

And the ironic thing about that is most who think that way still live home with Mommy and Daddy.

But we’ve been told by so many on here that COVID is no big deal for young peeps like James. So why is his baby at risk? James needs to check in with all the doctors here on VN that clearly have a mastery level understanding of viral biology and community spread
Is his baby sick?

The nature of science is for conclusions to change when dealing with an unknown. It's clear you have no understanding of the scientific method with the silly "whatever they dream up" line.

A dumbed down country we have become

Whatever other people's opinions might be - I suspect one of the neat things about having millions in the bank is that when you're not sure about something, you don't have to do much of anything you don't feel comfortable doing.

One thing the covid-19 has exposed is the enormous amount of citizens who live in an inconsiderate and selfish manner. Narcissism is at its height

Agree. It’s like some people purposely venture out without a mask hoping someone will ask them to put one on so they can bow up on them

To be quite honest, James hasn’t really shown up for the first 6 years of his career, so how is this different?

Too much time off is not a good thing for many linemen.

I hope he has a plan to stay fit.

He just signed a $51 million dollar contract last year. He must be doing something right.
As a Dolphin fan.....he was average at best at RT. Even the crappy Fins didn’t want to overpay for his mediocre skills. When he was signed by Denver as a FA, most rolled their eyes. His stent in Denver has been less than stellar....although, $51M gives him the ability to opt out. Will also come into play if/when next contract is negotiated.

Agree, that kind of money certainly gives him options.

You've probably watched him more than I have if you're a Dolphins fan so I'll defer to you in that regard. Just going off of salary, he's a top 20 offensive lineman in the NFL.

PFF has him as the 23rd best T.....so he's not even Top 20 at his position, let alone the entire OL.

Granted tackles get paid more usually. In addition PFF isn't the end all be all, but James is an average OL.

Even if he is ‘average’ or the 23rd best tackle In the NFL, I think “hasn’t shown up in his career” is a bit harsh. Just my opinion.

Regardless, he has a top 20 contract and like the previous poster said, that affords him a lot of options.
