Ja'Wuan James on Joshua Dobbs

To save you the searching:

(On difference between freshman quarterbacks)
"Riley has a great arm, and he takes control. I told him that reminded me of Tyler Bray as a freshman. Joshua Dobbs as well, he is a smart kid, and he knows the offense, and he has a great arm. Every time he is in the game, Coach Jones says its live. He will scramble n the pocket, and he is pretty fast."

Idk why some of you are taking sides the way you are. Good lord. Both of these kids are Vols. They both decided to come to Knoxville and wear the orange and white. Support them both and may the better man win.

There really isn't a QB controversy at this point, just people that desperately want there to be one.

This in no way favors Dobbs over any other quarterback. You could just as easily posted Riley's name and referenced the Bray comparison or how they said he is commanding in the huddle. No need for a new thread for this, especially with such a misleading and inaccurate title.

I'm not noticing anything special. I guess I could point out what tiny said about Ferguson and link this article as well

Good for you and your perspective. As I said, I thought it was interesting. Especially coming from someone who's vested with guarding the QBs and sees these guys in action daily. My disclaimer statement of my post not being an ode to Dobbs apparently wasn't noticed. I'm not even advocating the guy and yet. . . .

I also find it interesting that when my neighbors right next door mow their lawn, it barely looks mowed. Might be they're lazy, their mower doesn't work good, or they do it to limit the ability of weeds to compete with the grass. In any case, I certainly won't be telling them to not fear sweating so do a better job, or cut it shorter, , or get a new mower, or offer them a canister of RoundOff. Cause I only find it interesting and nothing else. Not being snide, just saying.

Read my post again. You will see I'm not even advocating Dobbs. As for the title it says "Ja'Wuan James on Joshua Dobbs" which typically means the first named person is commenting on the second named person. But if you wish or insist, you can even interpret it as the first named person is humping the second named person. All depends on how you insist on perceiving something.

You said "the Dobbs heralds on this site may be on to something." My point was Ferguson heralds on this site as well could link the same article because of Tiny's quote. It will be interesting to see how it plays out

Dobbs heralds = Those people who blindly anoint Dobbs and de facto starting QB, even before he stepped foot on campus. They herald him as Peyton Manning 2.2.1.3 or something. Heralds are people who pronounce, promote, announce, and declare a message. What they say and what I say and think aren't the same thing. GEEZ!!!!!!!!!!

But they m i g h t be onto something in terms of his ability as the QB of the future. The use of the separate letters to spell "might" denotes not outright support for their view but acknowledgement of a possibility their assumption being correct.

Dobbs and Ferguson are Freshmen, in case you haven't noticed. Coach Jones knows a ton more than all armchair QBs. These kids have a chance to be great, but there are no guarantees. Some fans are like little kids--they always want to play with the new toy whether it is the best or not.

Also, it should be noted that Peterman is still a freshman, so we have 3 good ones for at least 3 years, barring injury or transfer.

So, now that Jones has named the starting and second string QBs, we are argueing over the 3rd and 4th stringers? Sounds logical.

Dobbs and Fergy, if possible, should both redshirt. Gives them time to get some size and learn the playbook better. I wish one of them would have been a EE because than we might have used them this year, but as of now, Worley will start and Peterman will back him up. Peterman is good on his feet, too.

HOWEVER, I capped this for a reason, while mobile Qbs are the hot thing lately, they havent been more successful than pocket passers as of late. Cam Newton won the NC a few years ago, ( and he wasn't POG) and Tebow (who was POG), but really, mostly pocket QBs have been successful.

It's the hip thing to have a mobile QB, and I do enjoy watching them run and gun, but I'd just as soon have another QB with the ability to make accurate throws at several distances and maybe pick up 3-5 yds with his feet BEFORE SLIDING when he doesnt have another option.

Tyler Bray is the last Tennessee Quarterback I would ever want to be compared to...Horrible leader, horrible Closer, Horrible decision-maker, and horrible win-loss record....Not a very good comparison for Riley Ferguson.....JMO

Ok the title is not misleading but your initial comments make it sound like he is going to say something in support of Dobbs. All he said was that he is smart and fast. I'll just take the same link and attach a stupid comment of my own and start a new thread. How's this: Tiny was not sure he would make the first team.
About as relevant as your post

They won't Red-shirt them both we need at least a 3 qbs deep roster

And Fergy puts me in mind of another NC QB from what ive seen so far.... wait for it, wait for it,

That's right, CrompDaddy. Now that's a kid, with the right coaching that could have been way more successful. and we saw that in the Unspoken time.

Put ol' Crompalatte in Butch's offense, and he would have been pretty darn good. IMO.

Kid was tough and not afraid to pick up some yards. Had a decent arm, too.

I think they might try to not play them over their limit.

The thing is, they can both play or not and as long as they dont surpass their 3 game limit, they can be called a redshirt at the end of the year.

So, realistically, we could have a 4 deep QB roster, and as long as they ride the pine, they can still be redshirted and learn the offense.

Tyler Bray is incredibly talented. I would want to be compared to him talent-wise. The mental part of the game is different story but who wouldn't have been frustrated with the coaching he received. I wish him the best and am still a fan of his.

You know he's in the NFL now, right? I'd bet Fergy would take a comparison to an NFL QB as a compliment. I know I would.

And he compared him to Tyler, freshman year. Tyler changed a lot as he aged. He got a little too cocky, see sophomore season.
