Jauan Jennings Wants New Contract

People saying “this is what is wrong with pro ball” are idiots. Dude is in the final year of his contract. All he is asking for is a long term deal and if the 49ers don’t have him in their long term plans then he wants to play for a team that will make that commitment. It’s not like he is 1 year into a multi-year contract threatening to holdout for more money. This is the same league that can franchise tag players to prevent them from going to free agency, cut players without notice to save on the cap, routinely ask players to restructure contracts to circumvent the cap. NFL franchises have all the control but whenever a guy coming up on a contract year wants a new deal he is labeled as “he isn’t honoring his contract.” That’s gold 🤣
And if he gets a career ending injury, the poor 9ers will send his butt to the street. Take care of yourself unless you’re ignorant like a certain poster.

After looking at the Jennings situation where he's got a contract and is requesting a new one or a trade, I'm questioning the "Let's get the college players under contract and we'll stop this transfer mess" ideas.

Apparently Jennings may show up to camp, as required, but not really participate. They're calling it a "hold in" not a "hold out." He may be there but he'll not be inclined to participate any more than the bare minimum unless he gets his contract or trade.

Why would anyone think this won't happen with college kids who have contracts?

Well they traded Deebo, so he is gonna get volume this year. Also if Kyle Shanahan were not the biggest choker in the history of sports, the guy would be a Super Bowl MVP.
I drafted him late in a fantasy league where I think he was a steal. He will get a lot of volume. I expect the 9'ers will pay him.

We’re not happy about this but Aiyuk is probably not back until week 7. Jennings is our guy.

He wasn't then but he is now. 3rd and Jauan is real. He is a legit weapon he should be paid like one.
He got a nice bump. No he hasn't been screwed by any NFL salary metrics to this point. Many of you guys are responding emotionally without regard to the salary structure of the NFL

College kids have 4 years to prove what they can do for an NFL team. It would be idiotic to waste one.

Many elite blue chip NFL prospects only use the minimum. The sooner you get in the league, the better because football is hard on a body.

I'd recommend against a kid testing his team unless he had a sure backup plan. Most never see an NFL snap.

I agree. Career suicide IMO. Not wise to paint yourself with that brush when you're going to have to answer for it later.

No offense to Jennings at all, but this is exactly what is wrong with pro ball, and college ball today. Seven million is not enough to run fast and catch a football! Coaches making millions per year and I could go on and on. Meanwhile fans keep getting screwed with rising ticket prices. Hopefully, one day the bubble will burst and we can come back to reality.
Try Antenna TV, (CBS, FOX, NBC), last time I ckeck it was free. Monday Night I'm at work.

Jennings gave a warm greeting to coach Kyle Shanahan at the start of practice and led the way in drills, catching three passes in a team session.

“You want everyone out there on the field, especially some of your better players,” Shanahan said. “Jauan has been a hell of a player for us here for a while. One of our leaders too. He had a good practice and it was great to have him out there.”

It's a lot of money to you and I. But 7 million to be WR1 or 2 for one of the best teams in the league is basically spitting in his face, especially with how he has produced.
