Jason Witten's mother arrested

first of all, it's DAVE Rider (who never played for the TWolves...). second, his MOTHER lived there as well.

and third, i can't for the life of me understand what makes this newsworthy. it's the guys mom, not him. i understand it's been on sirius' NFL show all morning as well. must be a really slow news day.

what's next, Bruce Pearl's name gets dragged through the mud because his sister's 3rd cousin sends a letter without enough postage?

it's early July and all we have is MLB. I'd say "really slow" is an understatement.

I just noticed that we had been linked over at Tidefans and checked to see what pot shots were being taken at Witten and the Vols. Much to my amazement I found posts like this:
I don't mean to come across as condescending, but the tenor of the title of this post is, in my opinion, inappropriate. I don't know what good it does to take glee in the fact that a former college football player's mother ran afoul of the law. Non-story, really, but that's just my opinion.

This may not be popular with some of you, but, personally, I always thought of Jason Witten as a good player with good values. I had a lot of respect for what he did as a tight end. It's a shame that has happened to his family.

I'm not a Vol fan, by any means...but I recognize talent when I see it, and Witten has talent in the tight end position. That son-of-a-gun was hard to bring down.

Does Witten have a good relationship with his mother? If he doesn't he's probably embarrased of his mother's behavior, I certainly would be.

If the story woild have been something really positive that his mother did it would have been posted, so why not post the negative things. On this board we talk about good and bad events. I don't think it was posted as a slap in the face to Jason.

I heard she withdrew the money from Eric Loche's account out of vengeance.
