Jason Swain Speaks Out

No, that's according to KPD, if I have read the info correctly. I'm sure this juicy little detail wouldn't be left out by UT officials or anyone's lawyer if true. I don't see a drunk off-duty cop doing anything at a bar if he is intoxicated. Seems most are just stereotyping him as a dumbass without any evidence as well, yet based on what is presented to us right now, alcohol wasn't involved with him.

Consider the source. KPD is getting that info from Bar Knoxville. There have been people that swear they saw the cop inside the bar drinking. I really have a hard time believing that an off-duty cop is hanging out at a bar/club on his night off just sitting around outside and not having a drink.

Oh, so KPD says their off-duty officer wasn't drinking.

No reason not to believe that. It's not like they're just protecting one of their own or anything. I mean, people always go to bars at 2am and never have a drop of alcohol. That's normal.

If he hasn't properly identified himself and steps in a fight, then so be the ass whipping he is about to get.

You've got to get this all cops=heroes shat out of your mind.

Cops don't equal heroes genius, they equal help for your unarmed ass. That's what they are trained to do, on or off the clock. Not every cop is like "Training Day". I don't like smart-ass punk cops as much as the next person, but if I'm unarmed and in a situation that sucks, I'm not going to ask him for his badge if he pulls his piece and helps me out. By reading some of the people on this board, an off-duty cop that does the right thing and gets people out of a bad situation is a hero, yet someone who does it and gets their ass beat because of not showing proper documentation is a piece of crap and deserves the ass beating he got. Sound about right??

I have all the respect in the world for good cops.

However, there are some worthless SOBs that are cops.

Just like teachers, doctors, coaches or whatever.

A badge does not equal great human being.

What I find funny is that several Tennessee athletes, both former and current, have mentioned how the KPD and UTPD have it out for athletes.

Several people that have attended Tennessee have mentioned their run ins with the KPD and UTPD and how ass backwards their priorities seem to be.

But by God he's got a badge so he's a saint.

If an undercover cop tries to break up a fight, he like any other person, takes the chance of getting his ass handed to him.

This guy did. And unlike some on here, I'm reserving judgment to see how he handled it and his condition at the time. The fact he puts a badge on doesn't mean jack squat to me.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

From my understanding he was not undercover. He was just off-duty. On his own time. Off work. So it makes perfect sense that a young, single guy, who is off work, chooses to go hang out at a bar at 1 or 2 in the morning and ONLY chill outside, with no drink and only talk with a bouncer.

Of course the KPD is going to make their own look like an angel. All Police Depts, KPD included, will bend facts and manipulate reports to protect the "innocence" of their own.

I've seen plenty of cops show up after they get off duty at clubs. They never drank and hung out with their bouncer buddies outside shooting the crap about when they were going to watch Roadhouse again together. I've also seen plenty of people not drink at the bar, but wants the point, unless you are driving someone home?? Of course, some people just go for the dancing and hot women and don't drink.

You completely missed my point. Can't say I'm shocked.

If this cop decided to jump in to help and got his ass beat, then so be it. Putting him on a pedestal and slapping a cape on him doesn't matter one bit. I'm simply reserving judgment on what his status was at the time. There are multiple people that seen him inside the bar. But nevermind that, he's a hero. He puts his life on the line everyday.

And you're right. Not every cop is corrupt. But not all are "serving and protecting" the right way.

I know a girl who was pulled over by a cop who actually broke the law, but said girl wasn't aware of the law. He deliberately told her that her ID and insurance weren't compatible, or something along those lines, so she began crying. After about 30 minutes of the girl crying and worrying, the cop comes back to the car and tells her "I was just f***in' with you. You can go." It's a damn shame she wasn't aware that she could get his azz fired and in some legal trouble.

I like Jason swain, but I have to dissagree with him on this one. I bet alot of the time cops are very very leinant on the football players, because just like the rest of us the vast majority of cops are UT football fans. Its only when the crime is outrageous like robbing a couple of country boys for their cheeseburgers, or stomping a off duty cop's brains out do we hear about it.

NO! This is the "problem". KPD and especially UTPD are on power trips when it comes to students, especially athletes. Everyone would think that it would be the opposite because of the limelight on these kids, but for some reason at our school they're harder on them. I can't figure out if its jealousy, wanting to show their power, intimidation, or what but there's a rift between the police departments in Knoxville and the patrons on that campus.

Exactly.

I've got two family members that are cops. One is a damn good cop and a damn good guy. The other is a scumbag pig.

It happens. Some cops have it out for athletes.

Same as in college when you play sports. Some professors will give an athlete a break, while others will do what they can to screw them. It's the nature of the beast.

Turning a blind eye and sainting all the cops of the world is ignorant.

Ok, I'll agree that if he got beat down by doing something if he was drinking at all, that's one thing, but trying to justify that makes it look like you are justifying what the players did. That's why I'm not going that route, it become very misconstrued at that point, and it's look like you agree that all off-duty cops should be beat down if they every intervene in a situation like this, except if they aren't drinking.

I heard the female owner of the bar say in the video that the off duty cop was a "customer" that night. Not just a fella chatting with a bouncer at 2AM. Hardly a saint.

Are you a cop? or associated in any way with the police? Family member a copper?

Your ridiculous defense of all things copper doesn't make sense.

Everybody on here agrees that there are some good, decent, honorable coppers. But there are also power hungry pricks, especially the newbies, who get thrills off abusing their power and picking on higher profile individuals. Unfortunately, based on eyewitness reports and the facts around the case, despite what the corrupt KPD states, this copper falls into the prick category so far.

That in no way condones what the F-ball players did.

Well, if that's the case, then he may have been drinking. If so, it still doesn't justify what the players did to him or the other guy, regardless if he's a cop or not. If he was drinking, he should have exercised better judgment, of course, George Dickel says otherwise.

Not saying they should be beat down. Just saying anytime you try and break up a fight, no matter the profession, you should be prepared for the chance of getting your ass beat. He's not above the law or above getting his arse handed to him when off-duty.

If he wasn't drinking and truly not connected to the incident, then he has my support 100%. I'm just having a hard time grasping the fact that he was at a bar at 2:00 am in the morning, not drinking, and identified himself as a police officer before he was beaten up an kicked while he was knocked out.

So, attempting to breaking up a fight, even if you are an off-duty cop that has been drinking, constitutes you as a prick of a cop?? That's the biggest jump to a conclusion I have ever seen, and I have made some of the biggest ones on the board, I'm not even going to lie about that.

Gotcha. So which of the three you mentioned best describes the off-duty officer?

1. Knuckle-dragging baboon with a tight shirt
2. Designated Driver
3. Serial Rapist

I'm not saying he is, but the players obviously didn't know that either, and if they did, even if the guy was drinking, made an even dumber decision to do what they did. He got his ass beat, we can't argue that, the circumstances on the other hand is what we really can't say 100% for sure that we can agree on. I hope he was just trying to do the right thing, but if he was just trying to be a hero and not thinking properly because he was intoxicated, well, then he probably will remember to call for sober backup next time.

Exactly. And when it was a 10 on 1 situation at the bar like the owner described, how come it was the police who ended up in the ICU? Supposedly from someone who was there, the police actually took a swing at one of the players. I wouldn't be surprised

KPD is a miserable police force that purely picks on students of the University by instigating things and are way too aggressive. This report of the young KPD trying to make a name for themselves is the same as the thread in the basketball forum after we beat UK and a student was arrested and beaten for faking the cop, acting like he was going to storm the court. The cops then came into the stands and beat him and hauled him off.

Someone who thought they were doing their job. Like I said, if he is intoxicated, he should have probably just set back and chilled out. Nothing good would have even come about helping out, the bouncers are getting paid to do it, so drink up and be merry honestly. Him jumping in doesn't make him a prick, like some are depicting, it just makes him an off-duty cop that didn't think everything through very well.

oj simpson agrees.

police never cover up for the evil doings of celebrity athletes and give them special treatment.

they are always out to get them instead.
