Garrett is not coming here. We have a better chance getting Cowher or Gruden

Check the Dallas HC before him and the two before that.

Wade Phillips would clearly be an 'experienced hire' in comparison to a 'rookie' NFL HFC hire.

But, I would be interested in what you think about Garrett at UT.

Jerry wants Garrett as a head coach. There's no getting around this. Jerry has wanted Garrett on his staff for years. Tried to talk him into retiring early just so he could coach. The job is Garrett's as soon as Wade is gone. Coaches before Wade don't matter. Jerry has the guy he wants.

Garrett isn't coming to Tennessee.

From the guy who said, "Fulmer would be a rainmaker at Vandy" Not to worry, big daddy, my pockets are straight.

That hasn't been disproven. It has nothing to do with the questions I asked here. On the other hand, 4-3=1 is a fact. So, if it was all about math, we might pay more, in which case, he would come. Obviously, there's more to the question than math alone can answer.

As for the 'will be head coach' points that others are making, I do think a 'bird in hand' is worth something... and I do agree with Voldaddy's point that it's hard to know until an offer ('blank check') is extended.

I've also noted that no one seems to think this would be a bad hire. I'm surprised by that although I suspect others might opine later. He is unproven as a head coach.
