Jarvis Giles

We will find out soon. I think he announces on Tuesday. Drayton and Kiffin have an in home visit with Giles in Tampa tomorrow.

I thought Drayton and Reaves were going to visit him. Is Kiffin going to? That would be sweet. I know Spurrier and Poleni both have personally gone out to see him in the last day or so. I think he is liking the attention.

Kiffin, Reaves and Drayton will be visiting him tomorrow.

Does Drayton's job rest on the recruitment of this guy? Cause Giles has already said he's close with him and surely he'll ask Kiffin if he will be around come Spring semester.

Drayton is the reason why Giles wavered in the first place...

Let me elaborate...... wine sucks.

And USCe is like Milwakee's Best Light because there is only one town that drinks that drink. The rest of the country realizes how bad it sucks.

ihateorange...... where are you on this one bud? come out come out wherever you are.
I wanna watch you get embarassed........... again.

Dude...ihateorange4 is in junior high...he isn't old enough to get in on this debate :)

I think whoever is Facebook friends with him should see what he says on there after he visits with Kiff & Co. today since he has been known to talk about that stuff on Facebook. Kind of lame, I know, but there are some of you all who have mentioned what he has said stuff on Facebook in the past. I'm just interested to see what his first impression is of Kiffin, and where he is leaning.

I'm going to say it will be something along the line of...

"Yeeeahhh boiiiii!!! UT where it's at....where ya might see a playa ballin' on Sats in da fall"

And it won't mean anything more than when he said the same crap about USCjr

My guess is that Drayton will stay. Can you imagine the conversation and putting Kiffin on the spot at Giles house.

Drayton: We still want you to come to UT. You will thrive here and get to compete for a chance for PT your first year.
Giles: I would love to come to UT if Coach Drayton is still there.
Kiffin: I will do more evalutations of my offensive staff in January.
Giles: Will you keep Drayton on your staff? I want to come to UT if he is still there.
Kiffin:................................

I know that you have to take anything this kid says with an entire shaker of salt, but ESPN has him saying that USCe is the team to beat. He likes the fact that Spurrier says that they need him, that he would be a "game changer" and would make an impact immediately.

Just something I ran across from a Tampa newspaper:

Giles' favorites: South Carolina, Nebraska

Despite a recent effort by new Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin to woo Gaither running back Jarvis Giles back into an oral commitment for the Vols, Giles said South Carolina and Nebraska are "neck and neck" as his favorites.

Giles returned from his official visit to Nebraska this weekend — he saw the Huskers' rivalry game with Colorado — impressed.

"The atmosphere in that stadium was outrageous," Giles said. "It was like the stands were shaking in there. When it comes to that I think Nebraska's got the edge. And Nebraska has a 96 percent graduation rate, so that's impressive, too."

Giles said he talked to Kiffin Sunday morning, a day before he was introduced as Tennessee's coach, and that he told him he saw his tape and said he was an "impressive back." But Giles maintained he's decommitted.

South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier is planning a visit Thursday (he is also expected to visit Hillsborough running back Lindsey Lamar). Nebraska coach Bo Pelini has also pledged a visit this week.

"It's going to be a busy week," Giles said.

That's from like, four days ago. We've all read it.

That's what I think ends up happening. It's about playing time for Giles. At this point he is just looking at the depth chart. Too bad that was probably what Reaves did a good job selling him on initially.

Any details on Kiffin's visit with Giles today??? I'm starting to get tired of all the Giles drama anyways. I like Oku a ton, and I respect how he didn't let the coaching change turn his recruitment into a circus. Honestly, I think Giles feels threatened by Oku, and Oku being solid with us is maybe pushing him to USCjr or Nebraska. Giles has to know who is ranked right above him in the rivals rankings. :)

Giles strikes me as a bit of a prima donna.

No, not really. Now Jimmy Clausen, there was a prima donna.

Giles isnt making a big media deal out of it (or showing up in a limo for a national broadcast about committing while we're at it).

You're not going to have a coach make a staff decision based on a single recruit, almost never. If he likes Drayton, he'll keep him. If not, he'll get rid of him. But Giles wont be the reasoning. Making staff decisions for a single player is poor decision and almost never ends well....see the whole Mitch Mustain thing with Nutt and Arkansas

Im about tired of all the Jarvis Giles drama. Honestly we have plenty of running backs and spending so much time on this recruit is clearly probably going somewhere else is not using time wisely. He may be a good runningback, but to me he just seems like another one of those fast running backs with skills and fast but cant stay healthy. Kinda like Hardesty. All the skill in the world but cant stay healthy. I think Giles was injured for over half his senior season. Giles does not make or break this class at all
