Jarrett Guarantano

Love all the armchairs who look beyond the stats.

Dormady played a better first full game at quarterback than a guy who is probably going to start this week for a NFL franchise for the Buffalo Bills. Yes, the o-line struggled in the first quarter, but we finished with 6.7 yards a carry, allowed 0 sacks, and only a few hurries. Yes, Dormady made a few bad reads and throws but he also had 5+ DROPS that killed momentum and drives. He also had to deal with 2-3 bad snaps that were nearly disastrous.

I swear to God, if the new UT QB making his first start completed 110% of his passes for 700+ yards and 10 TDs you guys would've still been crying like for the backup QB to get some reps.

Guarantano needs to be ready to play, and should play some this year, but the game honestly didn't align well for him to just come in just as Dormady was starting to find some semblance of a rhythm.

Dormady never had rhythm in the 1st half. The score reflected that. All is 17 incompletions can't be blamed on the WRs either. He made bad throws, We made bad drops that didn't help either. But, to blame Dobbs for 4 yrs for bad performances and praise Dormady while placing his blame on the WRs is insane.

Insider Info from a QB way down the list at UT. JG had a verbal confrontation with CBJ when informed that QD would be the starter. That's why he got no reps last night. Depending on if they work something out this week JG will play meaningful reps this Saturday. If Not, look for tranfer.

butch full of it..my thing is if u going to name a starter name the damn starter..the problem is butch didn't want jg to transfer so held him hostage..thats wrong he knew who is starter was all along..what was wrong with giving jg some reps last night? its not like he threw dormady threw 5 tds last night..he went in the half only completing 5 passes out of 20 attempts..put yourself in JG shoe u would be pissed too..

You can't add either. Shut up. You don't reward bad behavior and if your family feels this way tell your nephew to transfer if he feels the same. The coaches will know who you are and have people reviewing this board. You are doing nothing good for Brandon by posting crap about the head coach on a public forum. Show more maturity than the 19 year old kid last night.

I think concerns about body language are one of the top 5 stupidest things in sports. People have always said **** about the Manning boys body language (albeit for different reasons than JG) and they have 4 SB's between them.

No one has ever said the Mannings are more concerned about themselves than the team. This is what this thread is insinuating.

I can agree that it is showing poor character to pout about not playing. But then again we are talking about a teenager not a grown man. But tearing him down for what is almost certainly a Butch Jones issue is a little harsh.

Oh yeah and I'll cover my other based by saying this... let's just assume for a moment that JG is a prima donna. It was Butch Jones who recruited him and let him on the team. Ultimately his behaviour will fall back on Jones anyway. Guys don't just show up on game day and reveal themselves as being selfish and a cancer. They show up on day 1 at practice that way. Actually they probably show up that way when they are recruited before they ever get to campus.

So if JG pouts because he doesn't play it is CBJ's fault for not playing him, or it is CBJ's fault for recruiting him in the first place. Do I have that right?
I am not going to blast JG because, unlike some of you, I do not know what was said/promised to him, but I was disappointed in his sideline demeanor.
But I am really curious about your seemingly obsessive need to blame everything on CBJ. Did he steal your lunch money in third grade or your girlfriend in 11th grade?
Your bias make your opinions less credible.
Of course, I could be wrong, as I was not on the recruiting visits to JG's house and have not been at all of the practices/meeting with JG and CBJ, as you obviously have.

IF you tell JG that he will get an opportunity to play...and then don't put him in the game....it's a lie...and poor leadership on the Head Coach....

Having said that, nothing excuses whiny little babies on the sidelines who pout like little (and old) girls who don't get their way. It's vaginal....

Sometimes things dictate a change in plans in all areas. Doesn't mean a guy was lying to your face.

He also said after the game Jones made the right decision driving with Dormady.

yea because they ended up wining and Kelly and Callaway made him look good..im not going to blame no wr on no dropped balls when there were more bad throws than dropped balls..if dormady was supposed to be the better player coming out of camp then he didn't show me anything..he struggled against a bottom tier team in the acc..tech was going to be bad this year..i watch them every year because im a hurricane fan...if he struggle against them just imagine when he see BAMA, LSU, GEORGIA, UF, and USC..if you thnk his performance last night is going to get u wins against those teams then look for a long season..

There is probably more to the situation than meets the eye test. Who knows a lot of speculation for the most part. Behavior is not justified. Time will play out. Somethings maybe happening at practices that JG feels that he should have started or gotten into the game. Who knows...whatever it is, it should not have carried over into the game....It did and it is unfortunate. IMO, my fear is that CBJ may have tried to reason with him and justify it which can cause more problems than not.

If we had a 14 point lead at half, JG would have been put it more than likely. TOP really caused issues in this game. # number of possessions did also and playing behind contributed to this also. CBJ rode the horse (QD) and it worked, once he got into reach he was much better, but he was bailed out considerably more than you would have expected. Dropped passes....it all evened out.

We can be fairly certain that he is disappointed to not be playing and there is nothing wrong with that.

Concluding that he cares more about himself than the team is baseless. We're like the gossip corner at church making mountains out of mole hills.

If QD had come into the game and blown the doors off the place and that is why JG didn't get to play then your argument makes sense. However that isn't the case .

The truth is that zero in game adjustments were made .

Truth is, the in game adjustment was made. CBJ decided there was no way in H*** that crybaby B**** was getting into that game with that attitude. That was all on JG. If he had done what a TEAM PLAYER should have done, He'd been on that side line with his teammates from play one. He would have been engaged in that game. And he would have been prepared to go in when called upon. He would have been excited for the players that made plays. And he would have kept up with what was going on so he could go in. How are you gonna know whats going on against a team like that from the back bench? There was no backup QB in sight to go to.

Coaching will get him from that to being the player of character he should be in the aftermath. Or, he will be a tiny little dancer, and move on.

I don't know of any coach, head or assistant, that is gonna walk the back sidelines or go to the water cooler to find the sub.

we cant judge JG because DORMADY was pissed because he didn't play in front of dobbs and I know that for a fact..we didn't see DORMADY high fiving players last year when they did good u only saw sherion...

Great idea for thread topic IMO

Much of the reason for Dormady's lack of rhythm was sure to pressure from the defense, drops and lack of separation from the defenders by the WR's.

Dormady made his share of mistakes but nothing worth benching him over. There are two sides to consider, benching your starter and giving a pouting kid playing time. Both of those have consequences.

Exactly. Calloway was out there looking like Andre Johnson and Kelly beasted. Dormady threw the ball horribly and made horrible decisions.

Dude calm down. Why are you calling our players names like that? Grow up internet tough guy.

Bingo

This was Dormady's first start in 3 years, I haven't heard him complain one time. JG needs to grow up and wait for his chance like everyone else. If he wants to be a superstar, then he should act like one and be a team player not a prima donna. I would rather see Sheiron Jones out there.

You are right. You could be wrong.

I don't have a bias. My opinion of Jones is based on 4+ years of public blunders. Not conjecture. Actual documented @sshat behavior. Your opinion is based on seeing JG on the sideline for ONE game.

Agreed. I love how people have already determined JG is a problem kid and is leaving. Please take a chill pill and stop spreading gossip.

Exactly...Well said ..Could care less if he ever plays a down at UT.

This all day long. If I were Butch I would have a meeting with him this morning and ask him if he needs any paperwork? I can live with McBride as a backup.

He was throwing off his back foot A LOT. I mean A LOT. It didn't look like a junior who had been in the system for 3 years. I don't think the cause is lack of game experience. It seems to be lack of fundamental coaching. I could be wrong but he very seldom stepped into his throws. It's not like GT was sacking him left and right. I saw things last night that just didn't seem to make sense for a guy who supposedly had the starting job locked up according to many on here.

I'd give JG a little slack. He's 19 years old, been a super-star all his life, and is adjusting to life as one of a team of guys who can all play at that level. There will be growing pains.

Anyone can have a bad day.

Let's see how he reacts in the weeks to come, as he has time to think it through. He might be just as Vol For Life as anyone on the team.

And if he's not, well, we'll know that too.

But give the lad a chance to think it through.

Oh well, bye.

Lol.

Lol.

Any fan. Ask any fan. Dobbs ( love him ) but he would of lost this game.
Qd got his head scratched all in the first half. But, seriously kid came back and won the game.

He keeper on the last read option - nailed it. Opened up so much space for John.

No he would not have. He would have run wild.

People will have blind faith in an unproven coach to the point of tearing down a teenager. It makes no sense to me when Butch has given you so much evidence that he isn't a good leader. I'm taking the more likely the path of saying hey look at the ADULT.

Oh but it can't be his fault. Jones is the second coming of Christ right? I mean look how much better than Dooley he is.
