Jarrett Guarantano

Dormady threw some horrible balls tonight so has to improve a ton

I would be interested in seeing how many of those "horrible" passes were thrown to the right spot and how many were really off target. GT played almost exclusively zone and almost always dropped 8. In that situation, the receivers have to find the soft spots then settle. On crossing routes especially, they can't run full speed. They have to find the throwing lanes and settle into them. At least one of Byrd's drops looked like it was behind him when in reality QD threw to the open spot but Byrd kept running full speed.

Any fan. Ask any fan. Dobbs ( love him ) but he would of lost this game.
Qd got his head scratched all in the first half. But, seriously kid came back and won the game.

He keeper on the last read option - nailed it. Opened up so much space for John.

Whoa! Yeah i expected this. Guarantano is deservedly getting blasted on twitter. Theres an article about him.

Yay for you JG your very first article on seccountry all about just you and your "performance" tonite.

He could even be nominated to receive the inaugural JALEN HURD I-IN-TEAM AWARD for EXCELLENCE IN SELFISH ARROGANCE AND LOCKER ROOM DIVISION.

Anyone who thinks Dormady is our problem came into this game with their mind made Already. He's going to be a stud passer. The drops will stop now that first game jitters are over. He made about 4-5 bad throws as a first time starter. His accuracy is better than dobbs even though he obviously isn't as mobile. He wasn't perfect but I believe his potential his through the roof. Not nearly as confident about our back 7 on d though. Over 600 yards again.

Wouldn't blame him given all of the crap Butch and Co. likely have sold him.

From what I have heard, he was sold on UT under the premise that he would be starting once Dobbs was out and Dormady likely transferring.

I heard from my Cousins barbers mother - who's friends with Butch Jones gardener that indicated that his butcher overheard a discussion that his girlfriend was having about the Housewives of New Jersey not being respected and so since G was "likely" sold something and I read it on the inter web --- it must all be true.

I think I am with you.

I just don't think Dormady is the answer. He plays scared and hurries the ball. Missed so many open targets. He didn't look much more fired up on the sidelines than JG. Folks we are hurting at QB.

Agreed, but his body language on the sideline was horrible. It didn't help that the commentators called attention to it. I think some folks including myself just don't want to see another Hurd type situation. I hope the kid keeps grinding.

Everyone keeps mentioning Hurd and the situation last year...

We're putting everything that happened last year on him? Really?

How do you not cheer or support teammates?

Sorry it was hearbreaking to watch him ignore his teammates. I was hoping to see him in the game. Until i saw him.

Sheriron transferred, decided what was best for him, but always supported teammates and is a VFL

I was desperate to see Guarantano play. I wanted to see him get in the game, but every time the camera found him it was selfish, me first, disinterest. He showed more off camera than he could have possibly shown me on the field.

Just my opinion and observation. I cant support another selfish me first type. He is a red shirt freshman. He will get his chance, here or somewhere else. He needs to wait for that, He obviously isnt ready and certainly seems to lack the maturity that Dormady displayed.

You won't be watching much football or any other sport.

No. You don't. He's old enough to know better. This is big boy ball. The world is a cruel place and he better wise up and learn how to navigate the potholes of life.

I remember what Vince Young said in a 60 minutes interview back in 2007:

Asked if he's going to the playoffs, Young tells Scott Pelley, "We working on it right now. I wanna say, you know, I'm not trying to predict it right now. But how we looking right now, we have a big shot at it."

"People have told you to calm down on your predictions, haven't they?" Pelley asks.

"No," Young says, laughing.

"No?" Pelley asks.

Says Young, "Can't nobody tell me nothing."

Nope. They sure can't Mr. Young.

And if Mr. Guarantano doesn't change his ways - and fast - before he knows it he'll be sitting on the park bench feeding the pigeons with Vince talking about the glory days.
If JG is the 2007 Vince Young, I would take that all day.

Yea I understand he could have been more of a team player...People have to understand this kid future at stake here..Butch knew who is starter was all along, so why lie to the kid and say he gonna play and u don't put him out there..Especially when dormandy looking like crap..The problem is butch dont want that kid to transfer so he held him hostage..

We just won a ball game and look what being a selfish SOB got Hurd. His future is the starting QB at UT if he doesn't screw things up like Hurd did. He will have two years or more if he earns it. Go play ball and quit being a whiney ***** or get the heck out of my locker room you little snowflake azzwipe.

He didn't name co-starters. Not once. He didn't announce a starter... there's a HUGE difference. You don't know what he told him either. And regardless of what he did or did not tell him... JG is supposed to be a leader on the team not a selfish punk.

Dormady played very well in the 2nd half and didn't get help in the first half. Five drops. That's the difference between a 13 for 20 start and an 8 for 20 start. That's a difference of several drives extended. That's a difference of 8 or 10 minutes of TOP. That's the difference in a completely gassed D and one that maybe could have dictated the game to GT.

No player played perfect. QD had a few bad throws. But drops were a MUCH bigger problem in this game.

JG should not get a shot until his attitude is fixed at the earliest.

BUT... the team needs ONE QB. Not two. You give the job to the guy who earns it in practice then you go with him until you need to make a change or he gets hurt. It DOES NOT help the team to play musical chairs at QB... and especially if one of those QB's is as immature as JG behaved.

The recievers were horrible. Drops and not much seperation.

Everyone keeps mentioning Hurd and the situation last year...

We're putting everything that happened last year on him? Really?

Don't think he was saying Hurd was everything but a locker room is a delicate thing. The last thing you want is something that causes players to take sides within the team. Jg could Def try that move if he thinks he should get the nod despite the team winning without him.

I'd be upset too. QD looked dreadful in the first half. He should've gotten a series in the 2nd quarter.

I did agree with you, however given the circumstances and the flow of the game it would have been the worst game in the world to sub QBs in and out with limited possessions.

My wife even said "honey he is sitting chewing on his nails like he is way too cool for this game". I was not sure how to answer her.

I wouldn't look for him to be around much longer. Dormady has clearly won the job in Butches mind no matter what he says about being even. He want play much this season and expect JG to transfer.

my thought exactly. looked like hurd on the sideline. wouldn't be surprised if he ain't gone in a few weeks.

Don't agree loved Dobbs, but Oline was just as shaky tonite and Dormady stood in the pocket found playmakers, threw the ball away when he had to and didnt take a sack, he made good choices and kept plays from breaking down.

Dobbs, for all his playmaking ability took lots of sacks, never ever threw the ball away and could kill drives with negative yards, interceptions and fumbles.

Dormady gave us excellent game management tonite. All wide receivers(or TE ethan wolfe!) that can catch will benefit greatly from Dormady at qb.

I disagree, our ol balled out. I think we have forgotten what a good ol is. We had no sacks with an immobile qb. Yes, I know he pulled it twice, but is not mobile. Back to ol, our rb dominated. That's a good game from the ol.
