Jarrett Guarantano Eager to Compete for Tennessee's QB Job

What's everyone's opinion if Dormady wins the job ?

Will Guaranto stay and fight for the job or transfer ?

Seriously? You think a QB with a decent opinion of himself would give up after being passed over the first time?

I'm never sure if I'm saying Guarantano the right way haha. Anyone know the correct pronunciation?

https://www.howtopronounce.com/guarantano/

from the above, two votes for gare-ahn-TAH-no and one for gare-AHN-tan-no.

No "gware" versions found.

Ideally, the UT media guides will conduct an interview with JG asking how he pronounces it.

None of these will match how Bob Kesling says it.

I would too. He's the GOAT and Debord made him a 6th round pick
Yet, he earned the nickname of the "Comeback Kid" while at Michigan. When he enrolled there, he was 7th on the depth chart. He has steadily improved as he has aged.

He was ranked higher than Jalen Hurts in their class. Really excited about this kid, honestly think he's a better fit for the offense than Dormady

People saying Dormady is better at this point must know something I don't. Dormady hasn't had a meaningful snap and Guarantano has not either. Talent wise Guatantano is the choice on paper, and it seems that he has better measurables as well. Ultimately I think Guarantano wins the job because the cream rises to the top, Guatantano seems to be a high character kid, and I think he just fits much much better. Dormady is better than Worley running so that comparison is way off base, but still when I have seen Dormady play he does not look all that fast. Guarantano is the future, and I think he will be and needs to be the starter.

A lot of QBs were rated higher than Hurts. He wasn't exactly a highly touted prospect. He was another miss by the recruiting services.

I honestly don't think he's that great. Look at what he has around him. He is a running back that occasionally throws a forward pass, anything over 10 yards leaves a lot to be desired. What do you think would happen if he and Dobbs had switched teams this past year? TN is lucky to be bowl eligible and Dobbs sets every QB record possible at Bama and they win that last one.

It is a pure pleasure watching that kid throw. He's got unlimited potential stamped all over him.

I know Urban Meyer was very disappointed when he signed with Tennessee. Urban usually is a fair judge of talent, even though he did not win the Big Ten last year. I still don't understand why they were put into the final four instead of Penn State.

Unless Guarantano has the brain power of Dobbs it'll be Dormady.

People saying Dormady hasn't taken any meaningful snaps are just being dumb. That's a completely asinine thing to say.

Well, that's what you get if you put a freshman on this team and a senior on Al...

Neither has taken a meaningful snap at Tennessee. How could you say this?

Given your first sentence, how can you have said all the stuff you've said about JG definitely being the starter? You've made much bolder statements about who the starter is definitely gonna be than the poster you responded to.

it means everything in this offense

I disagree. The fastest 40 time doesn't mean much of anything in this offense. And if it was "everything", then JG, who I suspect is likely a step or two faster than Dobbs in the 40, would've started as a true freshman and Jones would've been higher on the depth chart than Dormady. Obviously, neither scenario happened.

Some escapbility, the ability to move in the pocket and the ability to keep the defense honest with some keepers is important, and the ability to really pickup chunks of yardage like Dobbs on the ground is a luxury/bonus......but neither is as important as good, quick decision-making and throwing accuracy.
