Jarrett G or Keller C

I just don't count last year he had no coaching his first two years. So he is a RS SOPHOMORE and first year coaching and conditioning I am counting this year and people have said they hardly ever see the football hit the ground in practice and I have seen him improve everyweek.
It’s completely ok to say he had a bad attitude at the time. It’s ok to say he’s grown up and playing good now.

There’s nothing wrong with an honest fair assessment

His accuracy continues. JG gives us the best chance to win. Would like to see him use his legs more when needed.

I’ve been a JG fan forever and he’s the clear starter. But I’m for Keller Chryst as well since he’s our 2nd string QB. Glad we have both guys.
I don't quite have the man love you do buy I was for giving Keller a look. That doesn't mean I "hate" JG, but a change in there may have netted us a game or just shook things up a bit. Too many morons on VN believe that if you aren't all in on someone you obviously harbor some sort of deep seeded dislike for them. Gets a little old. If the shoe was on the other foot all the JG sycophants would be no where in sight.

Where are all the Guarantano haters at? He’s our qb! That was as a gritty performance I’ve seen, took tough hits and put the football where it was supposed to be! Haters hate on!
I'm not quite sure what else JG can do for some of these peeps to stop talking about our backups going in. It's the same every year. The best QB is always the one sitting on the bench according to fans.

Ok, it's like this. Most everyone is hopeful and wishes only the best for JG. However, being honest, before yesterday, we've only seen glimmers of what he can be. Yesterday, he showed us that he's up to the task. Everyone's always said he's tough, but the OL protected him, JG placed the ball perfectly on almost every pass, and the receivers made plays. So, if some think that there's a difference in perception before yesterday and after yesterday, there is! I don't think there's one person on this site that isn't really happy and proud of JG's play yesterday. However, it's one game. I think he'll continue to build on it, and if he does, we're gonna be in pretty good shape to get to a bowl game, and for sure, set us up for some excitement of better things to come next year! Go Vols and JG!

Great win. He made some nice throws. He's still not a finished product. They're still not taking chances with him on complex reads. UT recognized their advantage at WR over Auburn's CB's. Taking nothing at all away from the throws JG made... but that's a pretty safe throw. Throw it to a bigger athlete on the sideline where your risks of getting unexpected "help" from another DB are minimal.

He made some good throws but to consistently beat good or better teams... he will have to develop to a point where they trust him to throw slants, skinny posts, outs, quick outs, hitches, deep posts, etc. How many passes did he hit down the center of the field? I only remember the one to Chandler. It was a good game. He made some good throws. But what he did vs Auburn can be defended if they don't trust him to do more with coverage reads.

JG hit JJ in a tight window for 15-20 yards in the middle of the field, and also threw a bullet on a slant that JJ was able to catch. I believe both plays were 3rd down conversions.

My take is that JG is accurate and has a lot of zip on intermediate throws to the middle when given time to step into throws. The key to more middle of the field success is improved pass pro.

JG’s biggest opportunity is going through progressions faster. He’s getting better at it.

So, I know I'm talking "if's and but's", but if OL can continue to give JG time to throw, and he can improve on his progressions faster, and lastly, learn a few of the subtle arts like looking off receivers or shoulder fakes...some of the stuff Tua does, I think he can grow into a top flight QB.

Thats real easy to say after his best game yet. However, that's only one game. If he does decent against Bama, then we can say for sure that he will be the QB for his team. There's a reason people wanted Chryst. Looking for a spark anywhere.

There’s a reason people wanted Chryst. It’s called “being clueless about football”

Why people (keyboard warriors) get a kick out of calling people out cracks me up.

The OP was obviously trolling and got folks to bite by starting a divisive thread. He or she has 1 post and started the account on the 13th.

Thanks. I just didn't remember the first one. I'll have to go back and watch again. JJ bailed JG out on that drag. It is what WR's are supposed to do but it wasn't a perfect pass by any stretch. But again, receivers and QB's are supposed to make plays for each other.

My take is that JG is accurate and has a lot of zip on intermediate throws to the middle when given time to step into throws. The key to more middle of the field success is improved pass pro.
You can't throw down the middle if you cannot consistently make good reads and account for the coverage. There are too many DB's that can slide in and cause problems. As something that helps the run game, I just believe they'd be doing it if they could. Pruitt wants to run more than he wants to throw.

The pass pro against Auburn was pretty good. He had time and throwing windows for the most part. They still didn't work the middle of the field much. Maybe that simply wasn't the plan... but again as anemic as they were running the ball you'd think they'd want to throw the middle to pull the LB's and S's off.

JG’s biggest opportunity is going through progressions faster. He’s getting better at it.
He's gotten better. He still seems to miss things and frequently locks in on guys. On a pass Auburn knocked down early, he locked on to the receiver after the snap and never looked away.

JG “sycophants”.....or fan smart enough to realize and understand the potential JG has had from the times we saw him begin to do good things even last year?

Plenty of us saw and said that the kid only needed coaching and confidence. Maybe you should man up and admit you were wrong rather than doing the bogus “if the shoe were on the other foot” BS, cause it ain’t.

great win great for JG I don't hate anyone ! I just don't understand why KC doesn't play when JG isn't playing well! I am 59 yrs old I have been a vol fan for 54 of them I want all players to play well . KC is a senior it would be a shame for him to go all year an not start. but I support our coaches and scratch my head. let's see how things go with Alabama. I just hope during the game coach makes a change BEFORE it's to late. if one QB is playing awful play the other guy. but don't let it get out of hand before you change . pulling a QB makes them think ! let's keep drives going and score so our defense don't get tired.

I have not seen Chryst play enough to have an informed opinion. TC may be the next Tom Brady for all I know. Glad we beat Auburn.

Lot of words when “I was wrong” would’ve sufficed. 😏
