Jarnell Stokes fired from China team

I fully trust the Chinese team's version of it. China clearly has the strongest labor laws in the world, caring deeply for the well being of its workforce. I can't imagine any reason for this other than Jarnell trying to defraud this Chinese team, especially since the team's doctors couldn't confirm his injury complaints. Is the team owned by Foxconn?
Shut the Hell Up!!! You don't know what was going on! :loco:

Cuonzo Martin sucks.

Cuonzo Martin is a very good basketball coach. His style is to grind out games defensively, which is hard to watch at times and not very exciting, but he is still very good at what he does.

I am guessing he is very happy right now. He is from Missouri if I am not mistaken. Good for him. I hope he does well except when he plays UT.

before we talk about how awesome the Chinese workers are treated, one might want to read the entoriety of this report....caring deeply for their workforce?

Similar to what Memphis said after cutting him, didn't want to put in the effort and saw himself way more entitled than he actually is.

As many of you have already guessed, there are two sides to this and they are very far apart on the facts.

I find it hard to believe he was intentionally acting out in ways to be labeled "the most unprofessional basketball player in history". I dont remember him having any lingering issues while at UT. Maybe it's just a culture difference type of thing. Or it could be as simple as ole Fung Yuns disliking him and just hating on Stokes a little bit.

Does a person potentially being lazy and a bit entitled translate into them being unprofessional tho? Idk rly just yet what my opinion and stance is on that question. I can see how you could make that being the case however. But I too can see how the case could also be made that those traits would just make a person a bad pro, and not necessarily unprofessional. He wasn't lazy at UT. He put in the hard work, and improved every year.

In your workplace, would you consider someone who is lazy and entitled very professional? Do those sound like the qualities of a professional?

This is accurate.

I'm sure Jarnell has some fault in this but I'm sure the Chinese team does as well. This is most likely them saving face. I'm sure his version is much different.

I just finished many years working in Asia. Japan, China, Korea, Philippines and Thailand. You have to understand the Asian culture. You have mentioned the face saving aspect, some have mentioned the "It's China" aspect. Both are correct.

Jarnell may have been told to spread the scoring around to help the Chinese nationals look better. Sometimes over there you have to give up on your personal goals in order to provide support to their nationalistic pride. Also, you have to praise when criticism is totally warranted. A misplaced word or look, talking smack, or driving your team mates to excellence will be rewarded with rebuke and shaming of the person who behaves in such a way.

One must remember that Asian countries are very culturally driven, even to the point that prejudice is rampant and open. I do not consider this report as anything more than a culture clash.

When you see absolutes flying around like "the most unprofessional player ever" you know embellishment is the name of the game.

From what I've heard, I'm pretty sure ball distribution didn't have anything to do with this. I know that Jarnell's play didn't either. He was playing very well.

The injury concerns are very real. Stokes has worked really hard to get back from the injury that led to his release from the Nuggets. I don't think anyone can blame him for being overly cautious.

The culture clash comment is spot on.

I lived in China as well. So I am speaking from personal experience haha. You are 100% correct.
