I might have missed something, but I'm pretty amazed that this kid has not gotten that much attention on here. The kid seems to be the real package. I know the problems with citing rivals, (but since it seems to be the only way to compare players coming out of HS, I'll be guilty).. He is the #17 player in the nation - if my memory serves me correct a few notches higher than chris donald, ben martin, and Brandon Warren were, and yet there doesn't seem to be much talk about him? Outside of E. Berry who was the last player we signed that was as highly ranked as him?

I realize it may have to do with our depth at DB, but with Vinson's past there is a possibility of Jackson seeing action if not even starting at some point next year. Thoughts?

Certainly possible. He has the attributes to play corner, but I think his future is at safety. It's a nice safety blanket to have in case something happens to Morely (injury or otherwise.) He would start for most SEC teams his first year.

I could see him taking the starting job from Morley around halfway through the year, but I can't see him coming in and starting over him from day 1.

I think that Kiffin's whole "Freshmen will play" philosophy will work to his advantage. I wouldn't be shocked if he started over BV or Morley. Kiffin needs proof for the recruiting road that he means what he says.

I look for Jackson to start or at least get lots of playing time next year. He definitely seems to have the tools. I watched the videos on him and the kid is very explosive and has good speed. I am not going as far to say he hits like Berry, but he sure can deliver a lick.

I'm super pumped about having him, seems like a game changer who is also level headed.

I think with spring practice here and everyone waiting on Bryce Brown to announce we're all just tied up with current affairs. We shouldn't make light how amazing it is to have Jackson. He'll add so much to the Vols, I'm excited.

JJ's best shot at starting is at CB but he wants to play S.

Morley probably has as much natural talent as JJ if not more. The key is getting him to use it. I have a million times more confidence that Monte and his staff will both coach Morley up and get him in positions to make plays than Chavis.

IMHO, Chavis was vastly over rated by most.

IF and that's a huge, huge "IF" Vinson's head is screwed on straight, there's no one in the SEC with any more athletic ability. He would seem to be a prime candidate to benefit from the heightened discipline approach.

How big is Morley? Any chance he might get a look at OLB since the Tampa 2 calls for smaller and faster LB's? That would open up the S spot for Jackson and get 3 of our best athletes on the field at the same time...

He's maybe 200 lbs soaking wet.

Everybody calm down. I think he will play nickel if he lives up to the hype. But we have good secondary. Watch the type of plays they make with a more consistent pass rush this upcoming season. I also think they will play so much better with some good coaching. Especially Morley; he and Vinson will blossom with solid coaching. Also Rogan can stand to take a few more chances in pass coverage. He seems to play safe good coverage at times and doesnt just jump any routes out there.

who replaces Willingham? guy was a big physical corner..prone to flags and getting beat in the red zone

he drops his hips and drives through guys as good as i've seen from a hs db. not better than any, but definitely as good as lest you accuse me of being prone to superfluous exaggeration. betting he'll be a solid tackler and play early in a nickel

Vinson should have started over him last year anyway. I don't care if you have him in your doghouse as a coach. If your not going to play him don't dress him.

I am excited with all the young defensive back recruits coming in. And I am impressed with the guys who are returning. And, I am not always easily impressed.
I think the future is really bright . . . Go Vols

I think Jackson might get a good look at corner this year. Berry and Morley are going to be the safeties, I think it's absurd to argue with that. If the season were 20 games long, I might buy the argument that Jackson comes in right away or even takes over after 1/2 way.

Jackson will play special teams like crazy, corner, and mop-up safety this year. Next season Jackson is a starter.

I think Jackson will play a role in next year's success. Whether in a dime type package or as a starter. This kid has mad skills and will see the field.
