Should JJ get to stay if charges are dropped?

Let's allow CLK time to meet with the kid and make a decision on whether or not he is worthy of wearing the orange moving forward. If Kiff alows the kid to come back I am sure he will be on the shortest of leashes. I believe coach Kiffin is hurt by what his kids did, and knows his reputation with the people of the great state of Tennessee, as well as the parents of future players is at stake. If JJ is allowed to come back, I would say he will be on his best behavior following this "Scared Strait" situation, and a nasty toung lashing by Monty!!!

Despite the egregious spelling errors in your post, I must agree with at least one part of it. I would never, ever, want Monty Kiffin pissed off at me.

WE don't know all the facts yet.

I'll wait my judgment til then.

Just to be safe:

Suspend him for the Memphis State game.... Both halves!

As much as I love JJ he has to be suspended for at least a couple of games and possibly the season. Even though he had nothing to do with the robbery he still was out past curfew and violated team rules twice within one week.

Suspend him for what? Charges dropped = did nothing wrong.
He did nothing wrong?? He was out at 2am with two guys who are charged with attempted armed robbery, left the scene with them in a car in which weed was found, and was already on thin ice.
As much as I hated to vote "no" in this poll, he's gotta go.

Charges getting dropped has absolutely nothing to do with guilt or innocence. Prosecutors frequently drop charges simply because they don't have enough evidence, or don't THINK they have enough evidence for a successful prosecution. That doesn't mean the person didn't do anything... it just means the DA can't, or doesn't think he can, prove it beyond a reasonable doubt in a courtroom.

I don't have an opinion on whether or not he should stay; but if he was the other guy who walked up and told the others they needed to get out of there (flee), he's just as guilty of attempted armed robbery as the other 2, in the eyes of the law. Whether or not the DA has enough evidence (eyewitness accounts, identification) to successfully prosecute him is another story. Even if all he did was flee the scene with them afterwards, he'd be an accessory after the fact.

Ok you should be fired, kicked out of school or whatever situation you are in because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time?

If the charges are dropped he is quilty of nothing prosecutors (most) want to convict any one they can and really love high profile cases, helps them get reelected. If there is anything that can be pinned on JJ charges will not be dropped. If charges are dropped and he is cleared why should he be kicked off the team?

curfew midweek or not he needs to be suspended even if he is innocent. He was in a freakin car with drugs in it. You can't tell me he didn't know that he was getting in a car with people who carry drugs. He needs to be taught a hard lesson! There are unwritten rules when being involved in athletics at the college level and that is you need to have your A&$ in bed at 2am on a school night 2 days before gameday. It's a case where it's not mandatory to be in at a certain hour, but it is mandatory. Anyone who has played athletics at a high level knows what i'm talking about.

 Of course nothing should happen to him, if he didn't do anything.

I'm just telling you that just because charges are dropped, it doesn't mean the person didn't do anything. Prosecutors won't take cases to court that they don't think they can win, because their continued employment depends on conviction RATE (in most cases), not number of total convictions. In other words, they frequently drop charges against defendants if they don't think they can win the case... regardless of whether or not they think the person is guilty.

And, your opinion that charges wouldn't get dropped if he did anything is, well, just absolutely wrong. DA's will not take a case to court if they don't think they can successfully prosecute it. Man, that happens all the time. I've watched it happen in my own mother's courtroom countless times. Some evidence gets supressed due to improper collection or practice, and DA's say they're forced to drop charges because they don't have sufficient evidence to support the charge. The person standing in the courtroom may still have robbed or killed somebody; but every prosecutor (including my cousin) will tell you it's what you can PROVE, not what you KNOW.

You can't tell me he knew that the girl had drugs in her possession, unless you're JJ.

It must be nice to sit up there on your pedestal and judge people without having to worry about those little things known as facts.

you're right we don't have all the facts but when I was in college I knew which of my friends were probably carrying a little on them. Maybe it was the first time he had ever met this girl but....

Quit being so nieve. You can't tell me he didn't know what crowd he was riding with! He doesn't need to be out at 2am after his suspension and getting in that type of situation! He needs to be suspended for that alone! How do you know for a FACT that there isn't a mid week curfew? If there wasn't one there should be one now.

I think being suspended for the rest of the regular season sounds about right, as well as a good "this is absolutely it. If you jay walk, you're out of here" talk. Sometimes you can do more harm than good tossing out a borderline player.

He should be given one final chance. Any other problems at any level and he is gone. Nuke and Edwards need someone to be packing for them now.

I think it depends on the circumstances. Was he with them all night or did he just happen to walk up on them when they were robbing? Was he smoking weed with them or not? Was he under curfew over recent actions? What other trouble has he been into that we don't know about?
We leave it up to Coach Kiffin and respect his decision. PERIOD>>>>>>>>>

Agree.

From ESPN insider, They gave us a shoutout!
The buzz on Tennessee-specific sites, including ESPN affiliate VolNation.com, is that Richardson and Edwards will be kicked out of school and that Jackson will be suspended indefinitely. If true, then it appears that Richardson will get that chance to cure his homesickness and return home to Florida, though we're not sure if any school would touch him right now.
