Will he be better than Eric Berry?
hahahahahahahahahaha....let me catch my breath.....hahahahahahahaha. Eric Berry was Eric Berry as a freshman my friend a guy like that comes around once a decade or so. The guy has a potential to be real good but he will never close to being as good as Eric Berry much less better, and thats not a knock on him.

I've been more impressed with him than any of our freshman recruits. When he bulks up a little he will be hell on spikes.

The thing I like about JJ is his reckless abandonment. He hits a 240 LB tight end the same way he hits a 165 LB WR. It seems like he's not intimidated by anyone. Wait till he bulks up and gets quicker as he matures in this system... Watch out...

He can hit as well as anyone, but the guy can't seem to catch even a cold. He's dropped two easy interceptions that were right in his hands...

one way to tell is to have Berry come back next year and have them both in the secondary.couldnt you imagine the fear opposing wr would have with them 2 trying to out hit the other one.:dance2:

You guys are blinded by numbers. Jackson is more consistent in coverage than Berry. Berry just made more plays on the ball as a freshman. Berry blew quite a few coverages as a freshman that were overshadowed by his gaudy pick numbers. Jackson is in position more than any freshman I can remember that plays FS.

The way things are looking right now, JJ will be a terror for opponents over the next couple of years

I don't recall Eric Berry missing open field tackle after open field tackle. For ever big hit Jackson has he has a missed tackle to go with it. Jackson is and will be a great player but he is no Eric Berry. I'm not "blinded" by numbers. Eric Berry was just as good of a coverage guy and a much bigger playmaker. I'm not hating on the kid just to call him anywhere near the player Eric Berry was as a freshman is a joke.

I think J Squared will be a Ronnie Lott/John Lynch type........ just knock your teeth out and watch 'em fall on the field like Chicklets.

Are you talking about the UCLA game? Because Berry was beat a lot in the Cal game his first year. Did you watch Jackson this past game?

I'm an LSU fan thru and thru and I started following UT this year. The largest reason would be my nephew janzen. I like ya'lls program and I see it taking a big leap in the future. Janzen like any other player will get better with time. As far as what LSU thinks of the kid ALL I CAN SAY IS WE MISSED OUT ON A PLAYER WITH THE HEART OF FOOTBALL. I was upset when he went to UT at first but as I watch him and the rest of the team progress I truely think he is were he belongs.

The fact that we are even having this discussion is pretty amazing. JJ is every bit as impressive as Berry was his Freshman year. JJ hasn't had as many INTs but he has had just as many big hits and hasn't gotten beat as much as EB did his Freshman year.

The scary thing is that I think D Myles could end up hitting harder than either of them. If he can learn the system and get on the field then he could be a tremendous SS or hybrid LB/S rover. He is a physical freak...

This is the way I see it too. If you compare their freshman years JJ has been more solid but hasn't made as many plays (yet). EB was feast or famine as a freshman but JJ always seems to be in the right place. Early in the season Jackson was taking bad angles on ball carriers but that seems to have stopped. He'll never have Berry's ball skills but I think he can match him in every other way before he leaves.
