This is a two parter, and I have no way to verify if either part is true, so don't flame (although you are going to anyway, so I have no idea why I put the standard rumour disclaimer).

A poster on TOS said JJ was suspended for the Memphis game, which reminded me of a story a friend of mine told me that I initially dismissed as I assumed we would have heard some disciplinary action about it. After hearing this rumour of him being suspended for Memphis, I began to think it may have some teeth.

Anyway, story goes that supposedly JJ was at a bar on the strip and was trying to take a beer out with him (which you obviously cannot do), and the story teller's brother is a bouncer at said club (can't verify if he is or isn't, or even what club it was). Apparently they got into a verbal altercation about the whole deal. I don't remember what words exactly were relayed to me, but I seem to remember him saying something to the effect of JJ saying something like "hey man just let me be," and the bouncer refused as he could not let him leave with the beer. Story goes that JJ shoved the bouncer, who then got physical with JJ. Story teller also claims bouncer has a $3000 gold chain belonging to JJ and refuses to give it back until he comes and apologizes.

As I said, it sounds very far fetched, especially since JJ is not old enough to drink, but its not like underage drinking doesn't occur on the strip..I am pretty positive that even if something like this occurred, it was not exactly as was described to me in the story (I believe the friend probably embellished a bit somewhere..or in a few spots). But I would not be the least bit surprised to hear a) that JJ is suspended for the Memphis game, and b) that it had something to do with an incident or altercation at a bar and/or underage drinking.

Once again, no confirmation on either part, just food for thought, take it as you will (preferably with a grain of salt).

Brent Hubbs has reported that it is true. JJ is suspended for Memphis game. No reason is disclosed at this time. Didn't see this coming.

said bouncer needs to give up the chain.
shouldn't let an under 21 year-old in and drink, let alone be a richard about it.

If I was a betting man I would say it was Bar Knox. That is a rather ethnic bar now a days. It is an 18+ bar. JJ probably went and dropped his name to people and they got him drinks. It is very easy to whipe off a black X. That is why most bars are going to a wrist band but in cold weather people just wear long sleeves and bouncers are not going to go around and ask people to lift their sleeve every 30 seconds. I have friends that are bouncers on the strip and they are on a constant short leash with people trying to come in with booze or leave with it. Also the bit about him keeping the chain is probably true just because its a safety policy to show to university and cops(if they get invovled) that they tried to keep him from leaving and are taking a stand against kids doing it. JJ will probably go down sometime in the next few days and appologize to the staff and managers and then promise to act straight from then on then get his chain back. I hope Kiffin shows these kids its not smart to screw up a incredible opportunity.

Its not like he tried to poke the bouncer's eyes out or anything.
Actually CUM thinks this should be a mandatory 3 game suspension.

Sounds pretty realistic to me. A few months ago, I saw a certain JR WR on our team buy beer for a certain FR WR at a bar on the strip. In fact, I was underage drinking at the time, as well. No one working at these bars cares how old you are as long as your paying for the drinks.

Hopefully JJ will learn to drink in the dorm from now on.

Crap fire. I love the way the kid plays, but he needs to get his priorities right.

Remember the good ol' days when you could get into a bar fight with your own teammate and only get suspended for a half?... Ah, memories.

why is he gonna screw up an opportunity like this by drinkin some beer? Its not worth, especially when you hav a chance to play on sundays like jj. Kids makin stupid decisions. Can't say I nvr underage drank but I also didn't get the chance to play beside the great eb14

Or when you could try to rip an opponents eyes out with your fingers and only get a 1/2 game suspension...wait, nevermind, you can still do that.

Well, if this is true, then it is a shame. Fact is kids do stupid things sometimes. God knows I did at that age. It is really easy for us to sit back and judge a kid for jeopardizing his future just to drink but I doubt that many of us made the greatest of decisions at that age. I like the fact that the staff is showing little tolerance for this behavior. I mean, if all this is true and there is a one game suspension, that is more than was handed down by a certain head coach to one of his players for attempting to blind a player. The more time passes, the more I love this staff.

If this is true I hate to hear it about him, he is a heck of a player. But if this is just a one time incident and never happens again, its no big deal, I say suspend him for the Memphis game which from what you all say that has happened. Most of, if not all of us here drank before we were of age and done dumb things. Its part of being young and we all learned from our screw ups. Now if this or anything like this happens again then there should be more done in the way of discipline action.

1 game suspension is good enough, but I think that in addition to the suspension, I am sure Kiffin and Co are making it crystal clear that they aren't gonna put up with it and JJ and everyone else will get the message loud and clear.

If said rumor is true, this opens up the door for EB to get his record.
