Janzen Jackson, Nukeese Richardson arrested

Wow! That's unbelievable. It's so cool to be a thug these days. See how cool it is in the showers boys. Nukeese will probably like it!

Years back Ktwon police pulled over Bernard King of the Volunteeeeeeers and he was charged with 'marijuana on his breath'. Since that was not against the law...., he walked with no repurcussions. The only walking that Moe, Larry and Curly will do is to get on I-40 Westbound.

According to KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk, the incident began at 1:43 a.m. at the Pilot station, 2218 Cumberland Ave., when officers were alerted to an armed robbery in progress.

When officers arrived, they found Corey B. Zickefoose, 20, Benjamin J. Everett, 19 and Corey M. Smith, 18, claiming to have been accosted by two men wearing black hoodies.

The trio told officers they were sitting in a 1998 Hyundai Elantra at the convenience store while a friend was inside the business. As they waited for their friend, a man opened the drivers door, brandished a handgun and stated, "Give me everything you have," DeBusk said.

A second man also wearing a black hoodie then opened the passenger door of the Hyundai and reiterated to the trio, "Give us everything you've got," DeBusk said.

The victims said they showed the two men their empty wallets and said they had no money. A third man then approached the car and told the other two men in hoodies, "We've got to go," DeBusk said.

The three men got into a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by a woman and fled the area.

Officers stopped the car on Neyland Drive near Leinard Lane after it had been seen near Gibbs Halls.

Police found Edwards, Richardson and Jackson in the car, which was driven by Marie Montmarquet, 22, DeBusk said.

A search of the Prius revealed a air-powered pellet pistol under the rear seat. Two black hoodies were seen in plain view in the back seat, DeBusk said.

In the car's glove box police found a marijuana grinder. Police found a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana in Montmarquet's jacket pocket, DeBusk said.

Montmarquet told police the pot grinder and pot found in her jacket belonged to her, DeBusk said. She was charged with simple possession of pot and possession of drug parapharnalia.

The suspects were taken to the Pilot station where the three victims identified Edwards and Richardson as the two men in black hoodies who demanded their wallets.

Who is responsible for making sure Fresh. are in their dorms? I know that they all are in Gibbs Hall. Who is responsible?

So, Nuke blew his career and didn't even get anything in the heist. Brilliant.

Yeah, that's what I don't understand. These guys must be dumber than a box of s*** to think they would get any money off of some college kids on the strip. They must have been f'd up beyond belief to think that was a good idea...

makes me sick that some of you poke fun of these kids.this is their f"n life we are talking about.

The same life that they chose to throw away by playing armed robber at 2AM.

Yeah, it's a sad situation for the kids. But the only people to blame here are themselves.

I'm not blaming anyone but the idiots that are directly involved.

I like Kiffin and think he's doing a great job. I just know it's a tough line trying to get us back on top quickly and it can lead to taking chances on risky players. That's all I was saying. Hopefully this is just an isolated incident.

I understand, but it won't lead to any probation so don't worry to much.

Well these "kids" just committed a serious crime that just ruined their life. They were handed a free scholarship and 2 were starting as true freshman. If their lives are ruined, it is in their own hands.

I haven't seen where a story has said where Janzen came from. Not that it matters since he fled the scene with them, thus involving himself. But was he in the store when all this took place, and he came out and saw the other two standing at the driver and passenger side doors; or in the car and got out and told them.

This is a really terrible story though. Like Rev said, this is much bigger than football. This kids obviously need some help and guidance. It's tragic that because of a lack of this, they went to this level, and thus through away 3 promising futures.

Anyone know if there's going to be a presser on this? I'd assume they'll want Kiffin or Hamilton to make some kind of statement asap...

The range for a first time offender is 8-12 years, and it is not a probatable offense, meaning the legislature has said that it is too serious to get probation. You can get a 7.2 year sentence as a mitigated offender, but that is the best case scenario if convicted as charged.

This is serious. In Memphis, where I practice, aggravated robbery is a no deals case, meaning the DA will not reduce the charges unless there is an ethical issue or a serious legal issue with the case. These guys are looking at a minimum of a few years in jail.
