Janzen Jackson, Nukeese Richardson arrested

Why are people so obsessed over the PELLET GUN aspect?

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THEY USED! If they used it in the commission of a felony, the law treats it as if its real thing - since the victims were threatened with it and it mimics the appearance of a real firearm.

First, I'm a big fan of Kiffin - but, this does lend some credence to what many said early on. He'll either lead us to a championship w/in 5 years, or probation. It's a tough situation to be in, trying to get things turned around quickly while not inviting too many thugs and troublemakers.

I just hope this is an isolated case and doesn't become a trend.

Please tell me how the moronic actions of three retarded thugs constitutes the possibility of us being on probation?

Janzen didn't appear to make any threats... he was only an accomplice. I suspect he'll be back on the streets in a few weeks... if he's smart he'll plead not guilty and state that he was forced into doing it. He'd be selling his teammates down the river, but at least he'd be out of prison long before they will.

Sad days... oh well!

Kiffin has to get rid of all 3; Janzen has had his 2nd chances. Kiff has to show incoming recruits and current players this stuff aint gonna fly.

EXACTLY. They could have used a wooden rubber band gun and it wouldn't have made a difference.

This type of behavior shouldn't be allowed on the team. Also, if JJ had nothing to do with the robbery other than just being there I doubt he gets kicked from the team like Nuke and Edwards will be. JJ will probably be suspended for the year.

CLK should suspend them for an entire 1st half of the next game!!!! LOL

no but really this sux bad. mainly jackson, he had an encridible future here...and on sundays. Now, after he gets out of the slammer, he can go work at one of those pilots!! stupid @#$#%@* idiots!!!

Reaching...

Are we sure that the victim isn't confusing these three for Lincoln, Stephens, and Bram Cannon? I bet it was just those three. They should all be kicked to the curb!

I am also curious why 4 guys were sitting in a parked car at 2 am.

That doesn't matter either. Four guys in a car at a gas station isn't something that they shouldn't be doing - they could have stopped for gas or a snack, been out clubbing/bar hoping, etc.

Until other information comes to light, they were innocent victims at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

Wow...this is terrible. Armed robbery is a serious, serious crime. If they are found guilty then they are obviously going to be kicked off the team and face a year or two in jail. It sucks for Nuke and Janzen because they had talent. No way does Kiffin allow them to stay on the team after this.

Sounds like Janzen is going to go down for hanging out with idiots. Happens alot unfortunately but they all had there shot. Too bad...waste of a future.

From GVX....

According to KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk, the incident began at 1:43 a.m. at the Pilot station, 2218 Cumberland Ave., when officers were alerted to an armed robbery in progress.
When officers arrived, they found Corey B. Zickefoose, 20, Benjamin J. Everett, 19 and Corey M. Smith, 18, claiming to have been accosted by two men wearing black hoodies.
The trio told officers they were sitting in a 1998 Hyundai Elantra at the convenience store while a friend was inside the business. As they waited for their friend, a man opened the drivers door, brandished a handgun and stated, "Give me everything you have," DeBusk said.
A second man also wearing a black hoodie then opened the passenger door of the Hyundai and reiterated to the trio, "Give us everything you've got," DeBusk said.
The victims said they showed the two men their empty wallets and said they had no money. A third man then approached the car and told the other two men in hoodies, "We've got to go," DeBusk said.
The three men got into a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by a woman and fled the area.
Officers stopped the car on Neyland Drive near Leinard Lane after it had been seen near Gibbs Halls.
Police found Edwards, Richardson and Jackson in the car, which was driven by Marie Montmarquet, 22, DeBusk said.
A search of the Prius revealed a air-powered pellet pistol under the rear seat. Two black hoodies were seen in plain view in the back seat, DeBusk said.
In the car's glove box police found a marijuana grinder. Police found a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana in Montmarquet's jacket pocket, DeBusk said.
Montmarquet told police the pot grinder and pot found in her jacket belonged to her, DeBusk said. She was charged with simple possession of pot and possession of drug parapharnalia.
The suspects were taken to the Pilot station where the three victims identified Edwards and Richardson as the two men in black hoodies who demanded their wallets.
so it actually does seem like they just went to pick janzen up after nuke and edwards did the deed. WTH was janzen thinking going with them?

Just for comparison - this is a true story...

One man robs another man and during the robbery hits him with a bat. The victim is injured, but not seriously. A third man, who is with the man committing the robbery does nothing. He does not participate in any way, but he arrived with the man committing the robbery and left with him.

Care to guess the sentences they received?

30 years and 10 years.

This story could also illustrate the pitfalls of utilizing a public defender.
