Janzen Jackson, Nukeese Richardson arrested

Sorry to hear about this guys. It's a shame when young men make a stupid decision that jeopardizes a promising future. Also, it's not a reflection of your program...all programs have issues like this at times.

per Hubbs...

According to the incident report, the "gun" appears to have been a CO2 powered pellet gun.

Also it appears that Edwards and Richardson were the two who approached the victims car in black hoods and demanded with the pellet gun that they give them all the have got.

All three are charged with attempted armed robbery. The driver of the car they were in, a female was charged with attempted armed robery, simple possession of Schedule VI and possession of drug paraphenalia. She had a marijuana grinder in the car and a small bag of what appeared to be marijuana in her pocket.
So they robbed the store then went to pick up Jackson. This is too bad for Janzen. He was already on thin ice.

The player who had the gun and the guy who went to the car (Richardson, Edwards) are going to get steamrolled by the court system. No doubt about it. I believe the courts put this anywhere between a 8-30 year sentence for armed robbery.

Jackson, just being there, could be charged as an accessory. He might plea if he testifies against them. But just being in that situation is enough to send him packing.

Janzen Jackson was the voice of reason, as he was telling them that they had to go. I'm sure he was held hostage by the other two.
:crossfingers:

Thanks Hightide. Very classy. That is two bammers this morning. Still waiting on the bashers though.

I hope our other players will step up with an attitude of "dammit, we are better that what just happened..." The distraction will be for us (as I sit here in my orange ready to leave for the game trip). I hope they can see that what happened is not a "Tennessee" problem, it is a problem with some bad kids. Time for the example to be set - hope their crap is being pitched off the campus right now.

I do not care about losing Nuke...but hopefully JJ will somehow get out of this. Maybe this will scare him straight the rest of his carrer. Losing millions of future money over a maybe 50-100 bucks is just plain stupid.

I'm sure this has been said already, but it is absolutely amazing what people will do to blow an excellent opportunity.

Unbelievable that three of the top freshmen coming in would do this. Did they think they would get away with it???

How stupid can some people be???

EDIT: Just read the above about JJ. I need to read more. Hopefully, it's not as bad for him.

yeah, if this was bama. they would have gotten a half game suspension and it wouldn't have been reported in the news.

Doubtful... He's already shown that he's trouble. Just being in with this "heist" is reason enough to show him the door, no matter HOW good he is on the field...

Dane Cook never talked about the consequences of being in a "heist"....now that I know, I will just stick with purchasing a pet monkey.

This is the ultimate in stupidity. Jackson is the least culpable from all the reports I've read. Until all the facts play out and we learn more I will reserve judgment on him, the other two, Richardson and Edwards need to be dismissed from the team within the next hour. It is very likely that Jackson should end up being dismissed as well.

“At this time we are currently evaluating the circumstances surrounding an incident involving Mike Edwards, Janzen Jackson and Nu’Keese Richardson," UT Athletic Director Mike Hamilton said in a statement issued early this morning. "Any decisions or comments regarding their status will not be made until the evaluations are complete.”

if this is true ... 100% true ... there is nothing kiffin can do, but dismiss both of them and use their schollys for other players ...

sad day in volnation.

i didnt troll your sites, sorry. but the gators do have a lot knowledge on the subject of thugs.... enlighten me.

No, no, no Trevols81, you've got the nomenclature all wrong here. When it's one of YOUR players, he's a thug. When it's one of MY players, he's a student-athlete with anger management issues. Let's get on the same page here.

A note to all tennessee football players and basketball players - You play a high profile sport and your faces are recognizable to most fans in Knoxville. Armed robbery, without a mask, wearing UT athletic gear is probably not going to work for you. You will most likely be recognized and arrested.

If JJ was involved, he needs to be gone. Period. I don't care how great of an athlete he is. This program doesn't need this and these players know the stakes.
