My take on whole JJ deal....I think he knows he is going pro after next season and does not care about school. All he wants to do is play football! He takes a break from school and goes home, but I think he worksout hard on his own and comes back in fall ready to play ball. After next season he's gone. This way he gets a good break from school to get his head together. JMO

DING DING DING. WE have a winner folks.

If he is not enrolled in school, then correct me if I'm wrong, he cannot be held accountable for his actions, barring any criminal activity. Therefore he can smoke up and enjoy life his way without the hassle of learning, books, grades, gpa, etc., etc.

Ive been thinking this for some time now.

LWS? what are your thoughts? Are we on to something?

I've heard Democrats say some crazy things, and now I've heard this.

I'd like to believe what you're saying but in order for Janzen to make it to the NFL he is going to have to be on the field next year, and in order for Jazen to be on the field next year he is going to have to be eligible. Jazen will not be eligible if he doesn't make the grades. If Janzen isn't in school he can't make the grades. Hopefully, he can take summer classes to make him eligible to play one more year. There is no doubt that if he plays next year then he will be a 1st rd pick in 2012.

Is JJ currently in school and going to classes? If not, will he have enough credits to keep him eligable next fall?

The NCAA allows you to take one semester off I believe during your college career. So I would believe credits wouldn't be the issue if he didn't return.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of that rule. I hope JJ gets it together and returns. Without a doubt he is the best safety in the SEC.

They say he left in good academic standing...I guarantee you that he will have no problem enrolling this summer taking cake classes. He will be here. Just a mini vacation for JJ.

i dont have a clue what his family issues are, but Coach Dooley seems to be behind him 100% and i trust Dooley. He seems like the right guy to get our program out of the news for being in trouble and back into it for being in the top 25. I also think Dooley saw this coming thats why he signed 7 DB's.

I do hope he stays in SEC shape during his mini-vacation though. It makes sense that he isn't interested in the education side of things, being that he stands to potentially receive "never have to work a real job again for the rest of my life" type money if he has one more solid season.

I personally would be pushing myself to complete my degree regardless of how rich I believed I would be in the near future though. Millions can go to nothing extremely fast when not managed well, and the average NFL career is what? Like 3 years or less? I guess I would want a fallback/safety net for myself just in case. Most guys JJ's age just want to have fun and get to the league as quick as possible though, so more power to him. Just make sure to be back at practice before the fall!

I think you guys that are holding out hope he is on campus in the fall need to let loose of that dream.

i see no way how he can be a Vol if he is unenrolled from school. it wouldn't make sense and the NCAA is already all over you guys now, why run that risk?

This is way off topic and may or may not have anything to do with his family issues, but LA has been hit hard by the BP oil spill. The mainstream media is no longer reporting on what is happening here along the Gulf Coast but the effects of the spill and the continued use of dispersant has been detrimental not only to the economy but also the health of many people.

Being unenrolled for a semester is not that big of a deal, the NCAA has a provision for this, you are allowed a one time waiver for a missed semester .. I dont think its a reach to expect him back for fall, he has too many reasons to not return.

And you probably trusted Kiffin also?

this is true i did trust Kiffin and as much as i like him as a coach not so much as a person. I think comparing Kiffin to Dooley would be a huge mistake, they are two totally different people. Kiffin didnt give me any reason to trust him, i just did, however, even after all that mess Dooley had to earn the trust of Tennessee fans, and i for one believe he has.

This is a big part of the current labor dispute...OTL recently did a story about ex-NFL multi-millionaires and how many were B_R_O_K_E...one was even working at the local grocery store...
