Janzek too skeered....again!

This is ridiculous. Our defense looks soft in the second half because we do not have quality depth and our freaking offense runs the hurry up and does nothing with it for numerous series in a row. So our defense gets very little rest and has to go right back in. We are ridiculously thin on the D-line.

He has had this horrible habit of leaving our best players on the field practically AL GAME LONG, and that's why our defense may look stout in the first half and look soft in the 2nd half. It contributed mightily in every loss and nearly cost us in this game.

He admitted last year that our starters were playing too many snaps. He said it again this year. Whose fault is that, pray tell? That's right. It's HIS fault! McKenzie probably didn't get 10 snaps all night. Kyle Phillips should be spelling Barnett, and Lewis spelling Vareern...more frequently. Chris Weatherd should be spelling Reeves Mabin a lot more.

He just is too damn skeeeeeeered to rotate those guys, and it always seems to come back later in the game and bite us in the bum. We have the depth...that Butch always complains about us not having. We just are too damn afraid to let the backups step up and handle their business.

tuba or sax in the band??

All I know is UT should beat SC by 14 at least. SO there IS a problem. SOMEWHERE. Without the fumble, Vols lose. That's just being real.
Ugly game, sure. Assuming SC makes the field goal then wins in OT as if it was inevitable is not "being real". Pretty sure we would have had a shot in OT.

Nope. Tuttle and Maggit being lost have nothing to do with it. The answer is obviously replacing JRM with a tweener pass rushing specialist, and taking DB out in favor of an injured freshman.

I kid you not, Jerry from Bull's Gap called into the Vol Network postgame show, and said he thought the coaches were "skeered" (his pronunciation). He then mumbled a few other things, said "Go Vols," and hung up.

Is there a problem at Florida? Surely, they should beat Vandy by more than two.

No, what many don't understand is that NO TEAM BRINGS THEIR A GAME EVERY WEEK. A sign of progress is winning a game where we didn't play well. He!!, Ohio State has been doing it all season.

Enjoy the best season since 2007.

My biggest problem with our D coordinator is that he seems to fall in love with the Prevent far too much in the 4th quarter.

Our DB's and LB's can cover for only so long and then somebody pops open and we get picked apart in the passing game.

BLITZ more, use all our different Blitz plays, make the QB run for his life or get sacked.

Our pass rush needs to improve and fast.

I also have to wonder if Sutton is playing injured because he's simply not playing as well as he did last season.

Stupid penalties and our guys getting kicked out of the games must stop!

I love smashmouth football and the headhunters we have but they have to learn to play smart and know when to pull up and not make the hits that will be a penalty and/or get them ejected.

1 great thing...Our WIN streak against USCe is officially BACK and I love it!

Sad that The Old Ball Coach wasn't man enough to stay with his team and take the beating!

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

So how bad should MSU have beaten Nebraska by? How bad should Florida have beaten Vandy? How about OSU and VT last year? Reality check partner, bad games happen to even the best teams.

our offense just needs to stay on the field longer in the second half

Jancek is correct - defense gets gassed due to lack of depth. However the Vol offense does not help. The quick pace of the offense late in the game resulting in 3 and outs kills the defense. A healthier Dobbs and offensive line and better playing surface would have helped the offense vs. Gamecocks but in several games the Vol offense just did not move the chains at crunch time.

Better depth on both offense and defense next season should take the Vols another step toward winning the East. North Texas gives a timely opportunity to build more experienced depth.

Sheesh is right. You can see the defense get gassed in the 3rd and 4th Qtr in each of our losses and tonight. It's a real problem and like I said twice, already....Janzek has admitted that it's a problem. Last year and this year.

Some of that blame can go to the offense too. We go tempo and a few quick 3 and outs will have the D on the field longer than they need to be.

MOST of Vegas took Nebraska to beat MSU at home. SO. The other two you mentioned thought they could roll their helmets out and win. VOLS know better than that. Tenn has played ONE complete game TY. UK. That's it. CONSISTANCY is what makes a great team; not relying on being pumped.
