He has had this horrible habit of leaving our best players on the field practically AL GAME LONG, and that's why our defense may look stout in the first half and look soft in the 2nd half. It contributed mightily in every loss and nearly cost us in this game.

He admitted last year that our starters were playing too many snaps. He said it again this year. Whose fault is that, pray tell? That's right. It's HIS fault! McKenzie probably didn't get 10 snaps all night. Kyle Phillips should be spelling Barnett, and Lewis spelling Vareern...more frequently. Chris Weatherd should be spelling Reeves Mabin a lot more.

He just is too damn skeeeeeeered to rotate those guys, and it always seems to come back later in the game and bite us in the bum. We have the depth...that Butch always complains about us not having. We just are too damn afraid to let the backups step up and handle their business.

Lol yeah. Putting true freshman on the field late in the game is definitely a better alternative than playing the best players.

Do you think it might be that we are still building the depth to overcome the injuries we have had, just curious?

Phillips was injured. Weatherd is a pass rush specialist.

I agree that KMac should have played more... but Owen Williams was playing great.

5* freshmen who are bigger and more talented than the opponents they are facing? Hell yeah. You forget, K-Mac fresh in the 4th Qtr is a heck of a lot better than a gassed and worn down Owen Williams or Vickers. Plus, Obrien didn't get rotated in all that much. And you also forget that Barnett was a true freshman last year. Kyle Phillips can flat out get after the QB...and I don't recall seeing him on the field at all.

So, yeah sprinkle the freshmen and guys like Weatherd in more, so the starters aren't worn down to a nub late in the 4th Qtr.

He's either a troll or has no football intelligence.....
... Janzek said himself they are playing too much. Straight from the horse's mouth. Problem is, he has depth there...he just chooses not to use it. Bynum, Obrien, Weatherd, Bates, Cortez McDowell, Mixon...none of these are freshmen, so there goes that excuse.

Sheesh is right. You can see the defense get gassed in the 3rd and 4th Qtr in each of our losses and tonight. It's a real problem and like I said twice, already....Janzek has admitted that it's a problem. Last year and this year.

In all honesty....K-mac has not lived up to the hype so far so I would take the experience over him given the situation.

The biggest question I had was why we pulled Justin Martin and put Mosley in when Justin was playing well enough. Mosley came in and immediately got torched.

He wasn't the only one. Even Sutton left his man wide open more than once, tonight.

I was going to start a thread on this, but Jancek needs to go to the booth. I can't figure why a DC would be on the sideline.

I just want him to stop the trend/habit. He has fessed up to it being a problem, but does NOTHING to fix it.

Coach the backups up for situational plays, send them in as specialists, third and long blitz, they will have fresh legs.

It was coaching that got the strip.

Go Vols!

Hey I have this crazy idea that you rotate your backups during the whole game so your starters aren't gassed at the end . That way you aren't playing your backups at the end . IM being sarcastic . Every DC in the country worth his salt does it that way . With the exception of our DC who waits until the 2nd half to start to sub and then does it wholesale.

Justin Martin took himself out after he made a tackle along the sideline and got up favoring his shoulder or arm.

o.k., I admit Janzek is a little slow, but he's coming along...actually both OCs starting coming around about 12 minutes in the third, and the team responded...win...:twocents:

GO VOLS!

You should coach the defense since you're at practice every day

Its not only doing a rotation tonight!

Our biggest issues tonight was our secondary was playing zone all night and we all know our defense cannot play zone worth a dam.

And for the life of me I don't know why we run zone when we know we suck at it!!!!

I think Weathred needs to play more. Not only does he rush passer but he is a good tackler and has Good spead for a LB

All I know is UT should beat SC by 14 at least. SO there IS a problem. SOMEWHERE. Without the fumble, Vols lose. That's just being real.
