Jancek gone? (rumor)

I understand official news takes a while, but there doesn't really appear to be any rumblings going on, the jancek/Shoop thing appears dead, coach z news appears dead, and haven't heard rumblings about anyone else. That's all I was meaning lol. But I'm all for upgrading but if that's not an option I'm good with our staff staying in tact.

Remember all the rumblings about Wilcox before he left? Me neither. It was totally out of the blue

Do you remember last year when Coach Bajakian left? It was in late January, this stuff takes more than a Monday after a bowl game.

I'm no expert...but maybe let the 5 Star DE play his natural position. Whatever, I trust Stripling and Butch but it would suck if he left because they kept pushing him to play somewhere else.

After watching Kyle this year, I think the coaches may be right. His build reminds me of Jonathan Bullard (the dominant DT at Florida). Like Kyle, Bullard started out as a DE. He's now a potential 1st round pick at DT.

I wouldn't be opposed to moving Kyle to DT. I think he might be BETTER there.

In addition, we have a number of talented guys from his class that look destined to be dynamite DEs. Darrell Taylor is already being groomed for it. And after watching Austin Smith in the 4th quarter against Northwestern, he might be transitioning to becoming a DE as well.

Ok so it appears that nothing is happening here. I was excited about the possible upgrade of Bob Shoop. But it appears everything has died down. I'm ok with keeping Jancek. However what happened to multiple staff changes, or things would be shook up. Only thing that's happened is replacing elder. Some posters made it sound like multiple changes were coming.

Hart didn't okay the idea of a 3 year deal for an assistant and most think that this is why stuff has fallen through.

I know it was mentioned in one of the other threads. But Callahan was on Fox Sports Radio Knoxville and he mentioned he believes there could be at least one more staff change maybe two.

Serious Q...

I'm still seeing where people (not necessarily on here) would rather we cut ties with Jancek because he's not a good enough DC to win champs.

He's obviously not the GOAT, but the arguement is "8th best SEC D".

Who are you going to get that's an obvious instant upgrade worth risking the.move? Was Shoop a "no brainer"?

Are you really happy with 8th best defense in the SEC?

......4th and 14.

At Penn State Shoop has had the #2 and #15 ranked defense in the country. Given the circumstances surrounding Penn State with the sanctions I'd say thats pretty damn good, wouldn't you? Not to mention he also had a top 25 defense at Vanderbilt. So yes Shoop is a no brainer upgrade.

That's a heck of a feat

Did Chavis help A&M?
Muschump Auburn?
Steele LSU?
Pruitt UGA?

Did you see what muschamp built at UF with his players? He had one year at Auburn.

Chavis is wayyyyy past his prime and there isn't much emphasis on defense under Kevin Sumlin.

Steele see his stint at Clemson thag should answer all your questions there LSU made a desperate hire.

Pruitt isn't as big of a name as people think, he had one decent year at FSU with a stacked roster.

I know some of you are attached at the hip with all members of this staff and thats all good and fine but Butch isn't. Coach Bajekian was shown the door last year and people were raising hell over the DeBord hire but how did that turn out? Pretty damn good, I would encourage you to do some research on Bob Shoop before writing him off and assuming it wouldn't be for the greater good.

I am for Butch hiring who he wants. If he is denied that option he would have a right to find a school that he could work with.

Cheap, Cheap, Cheap.

I saw something mentioned in a thread on TOS that there was an issue in mid state with recruiting and that one of the reasons for the interest in Shoop was to help repair the situation anyone heard anything about this.

I saw that too but don't know anything about it

I'm just asking who is a no brain hire that WILL come. Not saying I want him long term but not sure I want to get rid of him at this exact moment (timing).

On the other hand, he coaches at Penn State which is in the Big 10 which most of us says is a suckage conference.

Sounds like a good hire but he isn't going anywhere. I was asking a guy on twitter who THAT WOULD COME and he never responded.

And how come Franklin "was overrated and took advantage of terrible tenn teams and injured ga team" yet Shoop gets praised?

And how about people who bash Big 10 defenses on here (me included to an extent) but praise Shoops D's rankings?

Again, sounds like an upgrade but he wasn't budging so I'm not including him on my list of instant upgrades to get after we abruptly fire Jancek and hope the next hire (and asst coaching hires he brings) doesn't backfire when its champ time in 16!

I'm excited either way!!!

And Franklin, who won 9 games at freaking VANDY, was never a good coach, he had a bad East that made him look good. So I'm confused lol
