Jancek gone? (rumor)

Just a few years ago UT had the highest paid staff (or very close to it).

I'm just curious if this is yet another made up statement or if there is really anything behind it. It was started like it was a known fact

Paraphrased but a couple people were talking Dave Hart not liking multi year deals for assitants. Apparently from Hubbs. Can someone check this for me?? Just posting stuff from Twitter that I see. This could not be true but many are talking about it.

This could also be end of the football season push to get subscribers to paid sites..do you guys every wonder why the uncommitted guys get the biggest bumps?

1 season out of 119.

Vols vs Saban's LSU team:

OC Jimbo Fischer 1 million
DC Bo Pelini. 1 million

Randy Sanders 175,000

You get what you pay for.

Bo Pelini didn't coach at LSU under Saban.

Edit: bowlinggreen beat me to it

Was it a "snafu" because it was one year? I guess that money LSU threw at Kevin Steele was well spent?

yes. if we only did it one year then historically we have been cheap.

This is not to imply we are not opening up the bank right now because I believe CBJ has money to make moves if he chooses to do so.

Not sure what the Steele comment has to do with this discussion.

Stop the "Tennessee needs to pay out" crap. That money has to come from somewhere. I'm sure it's not coming from you all. It's easy to blame Dave hart, but unless you're the one donating the millions, realize he's doing his best.

If y'all want top not coaches, go ahead and sell your house and donate your salary. We can use it as the down payment on a top cornerback coach.

I think Smart, Pruitt, Muschamp and Chavis made roughly 3 times what Jancek did this season. Steele double.

Cam Cameron and Shottenheimer made about twice what DeBord does.

Butch is 6th in the SEC, a tick ahead of Bielema and a quarter mil or so ahead of Smart.

Good to park across from ya in the parking lot yesterday Larry. :hi:

We made the Vol walk in perfect time by the way.

4th highest ticket prices in the country. Where's the return on investment?

Fine... let's all pitch in. I got a 10$ gift card to movie gallery. It's kinda old but I'm sure the money is still on it.

Butch is being paid his current-market value, certainly no problem with that. He has money available to upgrade his assistants should he choose to do so. The next 10 days are going to be interesting

I can see DH's position on that. I don't blame him one bit. Asst coaches should get 2 yr contracts unless you have a Norm Chow or Bud Foster type who has been at one school forever, then you as AD would feel better about giving 4 yr deals... Turnover with asst coaches is too high, either from lack of production or job vacancies at other schools.UT finally has money to spend on coaches, spend big I say, get the best coaches available. But don't give out long term deals

If Dave Hart's 100M+ budget is being blown by increasing the salary of a DC by 500-750k, he needs to gtfo.

Not trying to fuel this fire...but I can say several Vol fans on Twitter appear to be very confident that Shoop to Tennessee will be announced Monday Fwiw. Have no idea what their stats are though...

The decision to shell out a million on a coordinator is one that is made with high level donors. We could easily get a coordinator for much less (as we are all aware). Ticket prices pay for our great facilities and stadiums (among many other things).

Why wouldn't you give out a long term contract (3 years) for an assistant unless you expect to fire your head coach?
