Glad he was able to catch on somewhere. Hopefully he'll stick.

Ravens sign James when Matt Stover is almost 40 years old. Do you think they bring James to succeed Stover?

No, he shouldn't have.

One, they suck.

Two, the Ravens told him he would be thier kickoff specialist and be able to learn from one of the League's best kickers in Matt Stover.

He has the best shot at a career in Baltimore. He either takes over for Stover, or another team takes him as their kicker within a few seasons.

Awesome situation for James.

I'm happy for him, but it got me to thinking . . . Could there possibly be anything more intimidating than being a rookie kicker in the NFL the first time you kickoff and the return starts flying at you?

agree

As soon as I see James go to Ravens, I was like "he is the safest former vol this year who will start in NFL in next 10+ years"

the situation can't be better for him!!!!!!:good!:

I think that is excellent. Considering how important a good kicking game really is in terms of field position, it really is amazing how little the teams seem to value kickers in the draft.

I'm happy he signed, but it is not unusual for teams to have multiple kickers and punters on the roster early, then cut them as it is reduced to 45. With such a small roster, it is very difficult to have a kickoff "specialist" by the time week 1 rolls around. Best of luck to him, but this doesn't insure he'll be wearing a purple uniform once the season starts.
