There are enough ties between Gruden and Tennessee to at least ponder the possibility. Too many people here speak in absolute terms. Now, having said that, I have hoped for the last two coaching searches that they would take a look at Mike Leach. I'm not sure why they don't unless they are nervous about the circumstances under which he left Texas Tech (I don't think they should be). He has proven himself at two programs which do not have the resources of UT.

I swear I don't understand all this talk about Franklin...

2011 2-6 in the SEC
2012 5-3 in the SEC
2013 4-4 in the SEC

..if he can't compete in the SEC, what is the point???

When will people realize the SEC is the hardest conference to play in, especially the west for now.

When Jones leaves he will probably go to some mid major school and do phenomenal.

There is the SEC and then there is the rest of the country.

Im sorry I wasn’t aware you were good friends with him and that he told you personally. I stand by my previous comment, it may not be likely, but all you have is your opinion, you have absolutely no idea what he will or will not do

Did you guys hear Franklin after the game last night? Word for Word for Word Butch Jones. You could actually hold up a puppet head of Butch jones, move the mouth up and down, and play the clip of franklin after the game. It was like Bizarro Butch.

and.... that's not what's at issue. You guys have a personal hate of Butch Jones. you hate the person. Franklin will say and do all the same things Butch does. The stuff you hate. The difference between the two is that franklin gets more development and makes game adjustments. Otherwise they are the same.

I don’t hate Jones one bit. I honestly think he is a good man and solid person. He is just a tremendously lousy coach. Butch could copy what Saban says verbatim, but that wouldn’t make him a good coach

I don't hate Butch. I consider him a fraud as a coach. Franklin and Butch are the same? Not sure how you came to that conclusion. Both are head coaches and perhaps Franklin is a cliche machine? Don't know as I've never really listened to him, but I watched the PSU team vs Michigan yesterday. One thing they certainly differ on is a coaching ability. The way that team played and how they were so creative in getting the ball into their best players hands was refreshing. Yeah, I know many a coach could find ways to get the ball to the top players, but we apparently don't have one of those. All I know is Franklin whipped us at Vandy....Vandy! And now he has taken PSU from one of the deepest, darkest moments I've ever seen a program go through to #2 in the country. Yeah his predecessor did a lot of heavy lifting, but what Franklin has done is remarkable. The man is proven. He's a helluva coach. No one will look at our team, program and coach and say anything remotely like that. No....all due respect.....they are nowhere near the same.

Joe Moorehead, Joe Moorehead Joe Moorehead. That's who we should be talking about. Not James Franklin. Cheaper and better. Franklin would demand a ridiculous salary.

I followed Franklin early at Maryland and have followed Moorehead since Fordham.

This tells me Penn State has much better people in charge of negotiating coaches contracts. It is ridiculous that Jones and Dooley had buyouts at all. They were not proven winners to merit a buyout. Just plain dumb that we have done that so many times.

on a second note those 4 playcalls in last nights game were insane. Heisman RB with 1:45 left on the clock and all he does is pass block. Take 20 sec off the clock in 4 plays lol mind blown.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe I heard during the Michigan State game they said Franklin hasn't won a game on the road against a top 25 team going back to his time at Vanderbilt
