I wonder if Vandy has a thread on their board titled "Derek Dooley" that talks about how he's inherited a dumpster fire of a situation and has still won all the games he was favored to win, despite catastrophic injuries to his already depleted roster. And how he's doing a wonderful job in recruiting, despite a losing record in back to back years, with 2 top 15 classes in a row and is doing even better this year, likely ending up in the top 10, even approaching top 5. Maybe that thread even says that Derek Dooley sure is doing a pretty damn good job considering everything he's had to deal with. And maybe that thread on a Vandy message board says they have no doubt that once that talent he's brought in becomes experienced upper classmen, the Vols will be back to winning Championships. Maybe...
I was simply making a comment about what appears to be a renewed vigor from Vandy, indicating that those people who think Vandy is the same pushover may want to rethink that. I am truly thankful we have them at home. Pretty much as simple as that.

You say you are a fan, but said more good things about another coach and team than I have ever read from you about UT. Constantly badmouthing UT, and praising the competition, can get you labeled pretty easily.

He is just speaking the truth. Here is the fair question, what would Franklins record be a at TN this year at this point? That is a fair question. As a TN fan for all my life I want the vols to win as many as they have the ability to win each year. In other words maximize the results you can have with what you have. Franklin does that. Can you say that about Dooley right now? I hope it changes and maybe it will, but will Dooley maxmize your results.

No fanbase would have that posted. Because we can make every excuse we want, but to the country 0-5 in the SEC at TN is terrible. TN is a top 10 all time program, they get no love for beating the teams they are favored to beat. You will never be favored to beat good teams till you pull an upset. I guess we could go on forever about only losing to teams we were suppose to lose to. That is the point, look what Franklin has done at Vandy with no doubt much less talen

Sweet another Dooley sucks and franklin is awesome thread, I do see the OP point though. Im not saying franklin is the baddest mother f**Ker in the sec but what he's done with vandy in the course of a year is pretty impressive, now that being said I don't think that makes him qualified for another sec job. However if he keeps up the trend he is on now then I see vandy becoming a consistent 7-8 win team. But with all that said they are still vandy

Good point, in order to build a program and improve you have to beat teams your not supposed to on your way back to the top and Dooley has yet to do that. Who knows maybe it will happen tonight

Those aren't excuses, those are facts. And what exactly has Franklin done? Beat Elon, Uconn, Ole Miss and Army... Wow, when is the parade?

He's got them in really great shape. 4-5, 1-5 in SEC with key victories over such notables as Elon, UConn, Ole Miss, and Army who have a combined record of 13-23.

I hear they have about 3-4 moral victories, though.

I hope you are right, Dooley needs something. Us Fans need something. I don't think even though Vandy is good IF we beat them that is not enough to get me excited.

Yea at this point he has to give the fans something to get excited about. If not then next year may start off rocky from the start. I would hate to see the huge split in the fan base if we had to endure another home loss to Florida or another mediocre land slid next year. Volnation may shut down

You just summed up vandy and ut in that paragraph

Love the small dose of reality and a side of optimism, seasoned with a hint of sarcasm. Very well played. :hi:

You are missing the argument, no fan base is going to start a thread about how good Derek Dooley is. Because they expect more out of TN. They do no for Vandy. What would TN record be with Franklin as head coach this year, if everything was the exact same? Don't know, but it is worth making a fair judgement call on. Plus Franklin can recruit at Vandy, that is right Vandy. Really? He must have something. Again it could change. TN really needs to beat Vandy next week. I really, really hope they do.

Vandy is also playing a lot of SEC seasoned Vets, 90% Are Juniors and Seniors... They'll go back to being the Vandy of old next year....

They still have to beat a down Tennessee team, OR a better than usual Wake team just to get to .500. And people are all over Franklin, & candys *** sack! I just dont get it. I find it hilarious that this qualifies as a good candy team.

Obviously, Dooley and Franklin get to go head to head next week, and we'll see who is getting the most out of their talent. Vandy is a constant dumpster fire of a program, which also when through a double coaching change and has zero resources. I wouldn't say beating teams you are favored to beat is any great accomplishment.

I dont think Vandy will beat UT by any means..but it is possible that Franklin has his team playing harder..they probably have half the talent of UT..yet gave Fla and GA better competition than we did..and if Vandy wasnt Vandy they would have beaten Ark! so lets hope we give the same effort as Vandy tonight and beat Ark..we obviously have more talent!

a grad, season ticket holder and VASF member for many years, don't think that qualifies. As for a Dooley hater no but as someone who wants Tennessee to win I am no fan of his coaching ability. If that qualifies as a troll then so be it.

:detective: yup your a troll! I've read enough of your idiotic posts to know that a fact! Making you look even more ridiculous is the fact your a grad (maybe) and VASF member, but never one good thing to say about the Vols! Welcome to my ignore list fijitroll! :shaking2:

Ignore him bud. He must be related to Dooley as much time as he spends defending him on these forums

On paper, James Franklin was a significantly worse hire than Derek Dooley. So far, he's looked very impressive. But that doesn't reflect poorly on CDD. Vandy hasn't lost all their best players to injury. And they also still haven't done anything that Tennessee didn't do last year with a bad team.

not a franklin tea bagger at all..just want to compete for an SEC championship..I honestly feel we could go 6-6 with most of the posters here as HC..I remember a few yrs ago that UT was 3-1 vs. Shula..and when Saban took over the cupboard was so bare that Ala had how many players selected in the 2008 NFL draft? NONE!!!! its not the losing that bothers me..its the lack of competing..every loss in the SEC has been double digits..goin to the Music City Bowl obviously excites many UT fans but I remember the days when we were a top 10 program and why not have those same expectations again!
