I think USC shoots higher than that.
I agree.
However, I also think their program is in just about the same shape ours was last November when we started our coaching search. And pretty much most coaches are going to look at their program the same way they looked at our dumpster fire.
Problem was, according to public figures, Kiffin was only making $2.6 Mil in 2011. Not sure what kind of raises were built in if any, but for a head coach position at a school of USC's rep? They're going to have to break open the piggy bank for a new coach of any merit.
When USC hired Kiffin it was reported he was around the 6th choice. All the big dogs turned them down. That's why they ended up with Kiffin and at such a relatively low salary. So, just curious what's different this time around that will prevent them from getting down to their 6th choice again?

I think UT and USC's situations couldn't be more different. UT's roster was absolutely depleted. Look at the results on the field so far. USC has some talented players and the school is in one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country. You could have a very solid team just by recruiting a 50 mile radius around your campus. UT wishes it had that luxury. Whoever gets this job will have a much easier time than Butch Jones will at UT, sad to say.
I could see Sarkisian, Diantonio, Petermen, Briles or Richt. USC DOES have the money to buy who they want. Question is what kind of step do they want to take and who would actually take the USC job right now?
Could end up being an assistant being promoted from a major program given sanctions at USC.
Also, I'm not excited about the possibility of seeing Chip Kelly at USC.
