James Franklin to USC?

This would be perfect. It would expose JF as a fraud and Vandy would go back to being the quiet cellar dweller

why would they hire a guy that can't beat top 25 schools and was just involved a coverup?

I have a feeling that Haden doesn't fire Kiffin if he doesn't have someone in his pocket already

There's an interim. They might start looking this early but it would be shocking to see a HC change teams in September or October.

My same thoughts. Surely Haden wouldn't go from Kiffin to Franklin after all the news about the rape scandal. My money is on Del Rio.

I could see Sarkisian, Diantonio, Petermen, Briles or Richt. USC DOES have the money to buy who they want. Question is what kind of step do they want to take and who would actually take the USC job right now?

Could end up being an assistant being promoted from a major program given sanctions at USC.

Also, I'm not excited about the possibility of seeing Chip Kelly at USC.

Jeff Fisher isn't leaving St. Louis. Riley isn't leaving Oregon State.

Petersen is always intriguing. Del Rio is another intriguing candidate.

I still say there's no way they hire Franklin unless several people say no first.

No way Petersen leaves. Del Rio is a possibility as is Franklin, but I feel as if they could do better.

Yea, Riley is from Corvallis and did his So Cal time with the Chargers. I think he's too smart to leave Corvallis for USC. Not much to gain by going to So Cal and lots to loses.

I'd say Vanderbilt's James Franklin & Oregon State's Mike Riley might be frontrunners with Jeff Fisher/Chris Petersen boutique picks #USC

I heard over summer that Vanderbilt's James Franklin was getting lots of consideration #USC

Vanderbilt coach James Franklin's name got really hot in July within #USC athletic dept. as possible replacement

Please don't hire Franklin; I'd like the endless threads about how bad USC is to be gone with Kiffin. If they hire Franklin they will continue.

Too smart? OSU is a mediocre program, and "oh shucks, golly heck" Riley is more of a pushover than Ned Flanders from The Simpsons.

But I agree that he is smart enough to realize that SC is way too good of a job for him.
