James Franklin stopped by Gallatin High School this morning. I happened to be in the school for a meeting, and noticed him in the hallway. I stopped to ask him what was up, yada yada yada. IN short, he was there to see one of the players at Gallatin: Darian Banks. I didn't see his info on the board, so I thought I would pass it along.

FWIW, Franklin was extremely nice, and very intelligent in his comments. I was impressed to be honest.

I spoke to him during the summer. He's very intelligent and didn't come off as an a**h**** like so many say he is. Would much rather him be here and Dooley be at Vandy.

This.

Stop hating on the guy because of your jealousy in what he is doing at Vanderbilt. Seriously, it's almost like this board is entirely made up of stoner college freshman that were cut from their freshman team.

No one ever said he wasn't a good actor.

Ask the Georgia coaching staff if they think he is a jerk.

What's he doing at Vanderbilt? They might even beat us this year, but not because they are any good, rather because we can't count on our team to play to potential. What the heck has Vandy accomplished? They have 3 wins and not a single one of them is even remotely impressive. Us joining them in the cellar doesn't mean they are up and comers.

UT has several 'quality' wins this year.

It's hard not to be impressed with Franklin so far.

He is a good recruiter for sure and they have actually played a lot better in the SEC games this year than anyone on here ever predicted they would. For a "down" year he isn't doing as bad as one would expect.

I would actually be very happy if they were able to land Franklin to replace Dooley.

LOL Who cares if he's a jerk or not. Dooley is widely viewed as a jerk as well by people that have worked for him. So what? What the guy is doing at Vandy is impressive.

3 wins at this point is actually impressive if we use you and guys on this board's pre-season predictions for the "pathetic" roster they had returning this year. Hell most predictions I saw were no more than 3 wins for the entire season.

You know who else was "nice" ... Lane Kiffin. I met him and his staff on two different occasions. Very "nice" salesman. But ... how'd that work out? Franklin is great at what he does but he won't be at Candy much longer. Just a stepping stone for better pastures. All coaches can sell and all coaches can appear to be nice.

Can't believe our board has gone to the level where we defend Candy and the wins they've accomplished. I hope they stick it to the UMASS basketball team they're playing this Saturday. Sure hope they anchor down.

It's hard to argue with someone who is as petty as substituting the V in Vandy with a C.

Get it?

It spells Candy! HA!

I have 3 family members that went to school there. I know how it's spelled. I just think you accidentally went to the wrong board. This is a Vols site. Best of luck.

Franklin is Vandy's Kiffin. In some ways, he has to show out to help break the image of Vandy being soft. Kiffin also needed to project and instill a little swagger in our team.

As for how Kiffin worked out, what do you think our record would be right now if he was still here? CLK was a great hire with very bad timing. Hammy wasn't always on his A game but nobody could have predicted USC would suddenly be open.

With Kif at the helm now, our only loss would likely be Bama and we would be gunning for our 2nd Division title. Granted, most of those wins would be vacated when the NCAA came in and tore us a new one but it would be fun while it lasted.

Nope, still here and will continue to be here. Since you have three family members that went to Vanderbilt, as I did, I would assume that you are possibly smart as well. (maybe this is a reach here---I mean seriously, you said Candy)

That being the premise here, let's have a review of my posts shall we? When did I announce my love for Vandy? Yes, that's right, I didn't. I was at GHS this AM and wanted to pass along the information from a recruiting aspect. I thought it was interesting that he was here to see Darian, in that, Darian only has a handful of offers. Thus, I posted the thread in the recruiting forum where it belonged.

I was simply stating that Franklin was doing a good job, which any other reputable sports journalists or intelligent sports person in the USA would admit besides a native middle Tennessean with his head up his a$$. Now please, stop insulting me and lets get back to the Vols.

Did you tell him to turn those "T's" in the locker room up the right way!!! Then smack him if he was acting crazy....

I don't recall insulting you. When others were weighing in on Franklin, I suggested this was the wrong board. I also stated Franklin was getting it done and THEREFORE would be on to better pastures soon. That entire assumption clearly indicates others taking note of his efforts and he therefore leaves for a better job. Not following your argument about sports journalists and whatever else you are ranting about. On to "better" pastures was the whole premise ... not because he sucks at his job.
