I wanted to give major props to coach James Cregg.

All of the other coaches, Monte, Lane, Gran, O, are getting lots of attention but coach Cregg deserves a huge high five.

I was watching him during practice and he was lighting a fire under the scout team D. Every single time a player would half ass around the field he was right in their ear. He was acting as though the world depended on them, and this was with the scout team D.

Next time you watch a practice, check him out. These are the coaches that are going to make our team great again. The guys that dont care about the spotlight, they just work their asses off and demand greatest from all players on the team.

Go Vols

He has been given a great opportunity to be one of the leaders on the most stacked coaching team in college football. its understandable that he shows such enthusiasm

The harder you push people in practice, the easier it is to get more out of them in games.

Good to hear. Cregg and Garza are the two coaches that I don't know much about. Hope they're as good as the rest.

Along with the Lane guy...

Well Lane had a period of unemployment before getting the job at UT, Cregg was actually employed with the raiders when he decided to come to UT. Thanks for the heads up though!!...The mods are great here!!!

I told myself that the next time someone confused me, a guru, for a mod that I would just roll with it. So I did.

glad you brought that up. I have been wondering for sometime now, what exactly is the difference between a MOD and a GURU? Time of membership, more post count?...Or do you specialize in certain area of sports???

I'm not the best person to explain how you become a Guru, but it's nothing like being a Mod. No editing or banning abilities (unfortunately).

Being a Guru is somewhat an indicator of posts and longtime contribution, but it has been a while since freak has given anyone the title.

Mods are just people crazy enough to try to keep the boards clean, somewhat organized and spam free.

It says on UTSports.com that Cregg is the "Tackles" coach, along with the "Tight Ends" coach.

What exactly does the "tackles" coach mean? Does that mean he's in charge of the O-line when Chaney is doing his coordinating duty, and he's in charge of the D-line when Orgeron is doing his Assistant Head Coach duty? Or does he just help out with the O-line only, or just helps out with the d-line only?

I'm pretty sure Cregg just helps with whatever needs it at that point.

Maybe he's in charge of teaching proper tackling form? You know, making sure the guys wrap people up instead of just throwing their arms at them. :dunno:

Cregg is basically the Offensive Line and tight Ends coach. He is getting assisted by Browning, the SEC's most experienced Graduate Assistant.
