Here,Here!! I'm with ya on this. It's really very simple.Exactly, he got a free ride to play a GAME at a wonderful university...
Some kids don't have the chance to go to college and let alone recieve a full athletic scholarship for what mostly is God given ability....
I'm sure there was someone out there that year we could have given a scholly too that would have felt honored to play a sport and get a free education who was passed on because of James Banks...
Therefore, in no way do I feel sorry for him.....
a young man flushing his life away is never simple, it's tragic. Im sure that no one here ever squandered an opportunity or was guilty of a bad decision. Yes, his seem worse because they're on such a grand stage and he's had several chances, but the sad reality is that what he's doing to his life is punishment enough. Some of you need to discover what the word compassion means. God forbid you ever have a loved one in a similar situation.
sure it's upsetting, but it's not your life, you're not the one that will be haunted for the rest of your days asking "what might have been". I just cant stand to hear the VolNation respond with such vehemence. Yes, he is guilty of all of it, but these are exactly the moments when kindness must prevail.
It's not vehemence believe me, I am not mad by any means at James Banks. I am just trying to state what kind of opportunity he squandered. It'd be different if he did it once, maybe twice but as you said Banks had many many chances and he screwed up everytime, I just don't have sympathy for that.
not saying condone or have sympathy for his circumstance, but have compassion for a young man that is in freefall. Dont pile it on, trust me, the road ahead for him will be brutal enough.
sure it's difficult, Im not arguing that at all, just understand that I work in a Christian addiction treatment center, so I hear horror stories similar to his all day. Yes, his is different since it's so high profile, but the pain is the same. I suspect there are drug or alcohol issues at work here. My heart goes out to anyone that is lost in that wilderness.
