James Banks declares for draft...

Don't think it matters. He should have run past everyone he played against.

You make it sound just because he played D-1 football he should just go out and dominate the competition. That's not the way it works, if any that person will have more attention payed to them than anyone else on the team. Just looking at the stats and the fact that the other guys above him only had 1 more reception than he did but alot more yards would actually support that fact he was payed more attention to than others.

The guy wasn't triple covered consistently. If he was CN should have been undefeated. Playmakers of his caliber find ways to make play even when doubled - especially when going up against bad competition.

BTW, if you do your research you will see that CN is a running team and not a passing team FWIW. When your team rushes for over 3,300 yards I doubt any receiver could be considered a focal point of the offense. Also Banks was the leading TD receiver on the team. You could have 1,000 yards receiving, but if you only catch 4 TD's I would consider that subpar.

Still - if the guy is triple covered constantly only a retarded OC wouldn't change up the offense to throw more. That easy and free points right there.

They run some form of the option at CN. And with his option QB ability, why did he not play QB for them?

Probably Bank's decision on that one would be my guess. I'm sure he understood his best chance to be in the NFL was playing receiver.

"Rooting for you James."
"Wish you the best."
"He was a great player."
-- Volnation members, when speaking of James Banks' declaring for the NFL draft.

"He sucks!"
"Terrible QB!"
"He'll never make it in the NFL."
-- Volnation members discussing Erik Ainge's stint at UT

Does anyone else recall the time he played dead against Florida that year he caught the Hail Mary? He lined up and right before the ball was snapped, it looked like he flinched but remained still enough not to draw the penalty and fell straight towards the ball on the ground in the same position he stood at the line in.

Hes going to the All-American Football League to play for the Tennessee team that will be playing its games at Neyland Stadium.

They've already signed James Wilholt

I could see them signing some more former Tennessee players who dont make a NFL team's practice squad since NFL Europe folded

I think Banks was one of the more overrated players in UT history. He was good at times, but the wide receiver play in 2004 was far, far better than it was in 2003. Anyway, good luck to him.

If I recall right he was supposed to be the our Tim Tebow, but as you ll have stated he had some off the field issues , Like our beloved Coker untapped potential that we will never get to see and that is what is so sad, yes i to was really looking forward to that next season.
Good luck

Guys Guys James went over to CN and they run the veer option offense so they hardly ever throw the ball he became a better man by growing up and having his head coach ken sparks as father figure coach sparks is a man of the lord so I'm sure James is a much better person now....He is going to be drafted he is projected to go between 3-5 rounds...some say if he runs a 4.4 he will be a 3rd rounder

I'm pulling for James Banks.

I'm pulling for him, too. Just pointing out that it is crazy how the majority of folks want to praise Banks (even though he did much to deserve our ire) and degrade Ainge (who did much to deserve our praise).

I'm pulling for them both -- hope they tear up the NFL.

One of the funniest plays I have ever seen.
