Even if JJ doesn’t start he will be a beast of an edge rusher for us and will contribute in 2019. Glad to hear he’s finally on campus.

Yeah I think LB and DL should be pretty good. The biggest "?" To me is the secondary.
If the lbs and dts can put pressure on the q.b. This will eliviate the CB duty and make there job a little easier. Plus you can go ahead and count on them to majorly improve under Pruitt (given that’s his specialty)

I could swear that I heard that same rumor about two weeks ago. Is he on campus as a student or not?????
Will he be a day # 1 starter?????

I doubt he will be with line backers we have. If they stay healthy and coaching they will finally get I doubt he starts day one or even this year he has missed alot of Sand C and lot of time learning system......just my opinion

This is just one big BOOM day!

Yep, been almost worried, we havent exactly been conditioned for positivity and great expectations.

With trey and JJ, it almost seems like a brand new get. A fresh boom. And how much better are we with those two "additions"?

As George Will said, "the great thing about being a pessimist is youre always either proven right or pleasantly surprised."

Tennessee is going to be a lot better than the college football "experts" think. The 2017 team wasn't devoid of talent it was devoid of coaching!
'Most certainly agree with that! Let's figure we surprise the doubters across the USA by winning against those black and yeller mountaineer fellers, then win those subsequent cupcake contests. Let's guess whipping floorduh in Neyland (most likely in a tight one) manages to make Jawja take notice. Sorry kids. That's gona' be our first L. Nicky's going to recognize what's happening by then; that'll equal L number 2. From there, 8-4 to 10-2 are truly realistic. 'Don't know that we''ll amble past Auburn...and the jury's out about those chickens...not yet, but record-wise, I'll settle...just settle mind y'all...for that sorta' outcome in '18. Atlanta? Nah. Not til next year. New Years bowl game? I'm hopin'. Am I drinking orange koolaid and listening to Rocky Top right now. Nah. That's reserved for predicting 11 or more & a natty shot. However. Stranger things have happened. GBO!

I've been purposefully staying away from commenting on the JJ Peterson situation, but since my name got brought up in this thread I guess I'll chime in. First things first; I never said JJ would not qualify. That was someone else. What I basically said, is that JJ had a lot of work to do in order to meet the NCAA requirements to enroll, and it could go either way. Not going to get into the details, but if JJ qualifies; which I hope he does; I hope VOL fans go out of their way to recognize him for getting it done. It will be a major accomplishment on his part. I doubt most VOL fans are familiar with his situation. The staff also deserves credit for hanging in there and believing he could get it done.

How can anyone put Smith and Bates down as LB contributors is beyond me. I hope Im wrong but neither has been able to do much (Smith due to injuries, Bates inability to produce when hes been given a chance). LB is still a questionmark to me.
