Jamal Lewis Speaks to the Team

I think he was the best running back I’ve ever watched prior to his injury. He was absolutely amazing. It’s sad to think about the brain damage issues he’s dealing with now.
Looks like hes making the best of everything. I like how Pruitt and staff keep bringing in people to inspire this team.

Remember well the '98 Georgia game after he was hurt....We were walking down the streets in Athens and their fans thought that Ga. was going to romp with because of his injury....They'd smirk and say "Don't you guys beat us too badly" and then laugh....We sat there that Sat. and joined all of the UT endzone chanting "Keep Jim Donnan, Keep Jim Donnan!" as their fans filed out by us with faces dragging the ground.....One of my greatest memories of UT football..

I think Lewis is one of the most physical backs I have ever seen run. When he would get to the second level, he would start looking for somebody to collide with. He ran the ball with so much aggression. He was amazing.

Those who have not read the article that was done on him within the last year regarding his current struggles and life after football, really should. The story is very well done, and he is open and candid. Great read.

I love Jamal. Now it's time for my "Jamal should be in the NFL Hall of Fame" rant. Over 10,000 rushing yards, over 1800 receiving yards, 58 rushing TDs, 4 receiving TDs, over 2000 rushing yards in a single season (2nd behind Eric Dickerson), 2 of the 5 greatest rushing yardage games, including the 2nd most behind Adrian Peterson after Jamal retired and a Super Bowl ring. Terrell Davis is in the Hall and he trails Jamal in every category but TDs and one more Super Bowl win. It's time to recognize one of the best RBs in NFL history and vote him into the Hall, next year

Because of that major knee injury suffered against Pacific. He was never the same. He would have went down as the best ever. But Jamal is for sure up there among the best if not 2nd, IMHO. GBO!

Yea, don't remember his injury at UT. I do recall him being out his last season and Tony Thompson who ran like a deer behind that big physical offensive line.

I loved that era of UT football. What a ride it was. We were an NFL factory.

Yea, it was a lot of fun. It all started with big physical offensive lines that could block just about anyone and running backs that could hit the hole at full speed and bust it open. The Vols must get back to that style of football.

I think I'd put Webb a notch ahead, but he's right there
Why, webb played very very few games and then refused to go through Rehabilitation. Besides that the opinion of his teammates was about as low as you can get because he was caught stealing out of lockers. I can think of at least six running back so that I would put light years ahead of chuck webb

I said most talented. Not most effective or most liked or respected.
