A sensational Lewis jersey photomatched to the Browns and Raiders game in 2003. He rushed for 330 yards and 2 TD’s in this shirt. I’m the high bidder of right now but I will be the winner when it’s over. I hope you enjoy the photos of this Vol legend.
I have had many people ask me about this before. First and foremost the players do NOT own the jersey; the team owns it. That said some players wear one each game for marketing reasons. The team sells them or the player buys them and then sells them or gives them to friends. Bottom line is the team controls the jersey. Peyton Manning in Denver wore two jerseys each game…and sometimes 3. That was obviously done for marketing purposes. However in the Super Bowl he wore one jersey the entire game. Brady now in Tampa wears a new shirt each game but in New England he sometimes wore the same jersey all year long. Non superstar players where marketing isn’t an issue usually wear jerseys multiple games or even all year as well. Some players like to wear the same shirt all year and have it repaired after each game like a badge of honor. As for my statement about the team owning the jersey, I know a modern day Hall of Fame player who does not have his Super Bowl jersey because the team wouldn’t give it to him. No joke. Anyhow the point of all this is again the team owns the shirt. Sometimes the player gets it and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes they wear it multiple games and sometimes they don’t.
